1CGS Unveils Extended Support for Il-2 Sturmovik as Korea Hits Steam

All callsigns on this frequency, standby for 2 stories. As spring rolls around and the snow begins to melt, 1CGS has unveiled its 2026 roadmap, and it’s good news for Il-2 Sturmovik owners.

The year is naturally dominated by the upcoming release of the Il-2 Korea, scheduled for Q2 2026, but the roadmap makes it clear that the World War 2 sim, the Il-2 Sturmovik, still has a lot of room to grow ten years after its release.

From 1941 to 1945

According to the 1CGS roadmap, the year should have at least three new planes and the full release of the Siege and Liberation package.

Released into early access last year, Siege of Liberation features World War 2 battles in Odessa and Leningrad (modern-day St. Petersburg). Piloting activities are an important part of this, as it has been in previous expansions, and this year promises to include that.

The year is naturally dominated by the upcoming release of Il-2 Korea, scheduled for Q2 2026

This year you should see the expansion of the early war campaigns for both maps and the addition of a new late war mission for the Leningrad map. The new working hours are as follows:

  • Defense of Odessa: June 22 to October 16, 1941
  • Leningrad Blockade: September 6, 1941, to April 30, 1942
  • Odessa 1944: April 5 to August 24, 1944
  • Leningrad 1944 (all new): January 14 to September 4, 1944

The first shipments of extended campaigns should arrive in Q2, with the final release planned for Q3.

In addition, there are three new planes planned as DLC.

IP-39Q Airacobra

Arguably, the most historically significant addition to the latest expansion of the Il-2 Sturmovik is the P-39Q. This is a direct version of the Airacobra fighter, which gained a good reputation in Soviet hands despite a bad start by the American and British air forces.

The IP-39Q replaced much earlier models in Soviet frontline service in 1944, and was prominently seen on both sides of Leningrad and Odessa in 1944. This variant replaced the four .30 bore guns with two .50 bore guns, four in total. These were often removed from Soviet service to reduce drag.

IP-47M Thunderbolt

With the recent war on the Western Front, the USAAF would gain access to the P-47M. This was the last variant of the Jug to debut in Europe, with deliveries beginning in late 1944.

As DCS World stagnates, MicroProse may offer RAZBAM and the genre for all lifestyles.

Although outwardly similar to later models of the P-47D, the P-47M stands out as the only Allied aircraft to match the German Me-262 jet fighter. A combination of an improved version of the R-2800 engine, a new wider stage, and an improved supercharger, the P-47M could hit 500 mph in level flight.

B-26 Marauder

2 Great Battles B-26 Marauder

For those who like to take it slow, the road map mentions new flying bombs, but fails to name them. The pictures don’t lie, though: we’re talking about the B-26 Marauder.

While the larger B-17 and B-24 got all the glory, the B-26 was the most accurate bomber in the US inventory at the time. A rogue relies on its speed and health to strike from high altitudes, meaning that very little power can match or exceed the effects on the target received by your standard melee attack.

Exploring the 38th Parallel

2 Korea B-29

As history taught us, after World War 2 came Korea. The first simulator in decades to be set in The Forgotten War is scheduled for release in Q2 2026.

The Steam emulator page is finally live, though pre-orders are still only available on the site.

1CGS also teased a Korean expansion, though full details will be revealed about the game’s early access launch.

According to producer Daniil Tuseev, the first DLC is scheduled to arrive as soon as Q3 2026, reaching full release by the end of the year. The DLC will be available for purchase separately or as part of the Founders Edition, and is set to contain five additional planes, as well as undisclosed gameplay features.

If I were a betting man, I’d say this sounds like a cargo plane is on its way, considering the large role military aircraft played in the Korean War. While we wait for clarification, here’s your friendly reminder to check out The Bridges at Toko-Ri for some great airplane photos.
