Guild of Thieves Returns to Old Scrolls Online

Bethesda made two announcements at today’s Xbox Games Showcase during Summer Game Fest 2026 for their two marquee online titles.

It may not be the Elder Scrolls and Fallout stories fans were hoping for, but for those still enjoying The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76, it’s music to their ears.

Is Bethesda Losing Control Of Its Announcements, Or Is That The Plan?

Recent leaks about Fallout 3 Remastered suggest that Bethesda may have lost control of its game reveal or marketing campaign.

We have a release date for Season 1 of Elder Scrolls Online, as well as other incentives for people to answer Vault 76’s call in Fallout 76.

Again, not quite the Fallout and Elder Scrolls stories we were hoping for, but hey, maybe this is enough to motivate checking out the games. Who knows; you might like what you see!

The Thieves Guild returns to Elder Scrolls Online

Earlier this year came the 2026 roadmap for The Elder Scrolls Online. It highlighted what the team plans to do with their new seasonal content updates. Season Zero, which is currently live, has included several updates, such as The Night Market team event location, new Overland Difficulty options, and more.

That was just a taste of what was to come, though. That roadmap teased what Season One would include, peppered with new content for The Thieves Guild. The new trailer not only gives us a glimpse of what’s to come, but also the release date.

The New Thieves Guild content is, without a doubt, the most exciting part of the Season One update. It may not match the legacy of the original Thieves Guilds, especially what we experienced in Oblivion, but there was still a lot to like, and I’m glad to see Bethesda going back to the source.

Players will team up with the Thieves Guild to take on the Koldane Cartel, enter Daggerfall, and meet a new group of thieves to accompany them on their journey. The Elder Scrolls Online Season One: Return of Thieves Guild will launch on July 8, 2026, for Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Mac.

Meanwhile, Fallout 76 Just Got a Free 68 Update

Fallout 76 just got its free update 68

First, let’s state the obvious. 68 free updates in the lifetime of Fallout 76 is really impressive. That’s an average of 8 free content updates per year since launch. Yes, the launch was controversial at the time, but those who stuck with it were rewarded. It might not be the traditional Fallout experience we’ve been longing for, especially following the success of the television series, but it’s better than nothing.

During the Xbox Game Show 2026, Bethesda revealed the release of free daily prizes, starting from June 7 to June 15. Those who are curious about Fallout 76 but haven’t heard of it will be able to enjoy a free trial of the game from June 8 to the 15th.

There are a number of obstacles in the way of Interplay Fallout games being rebranded.

Fallout 76 also saw the recent launch of the Infestations update, which is now available on all supported platforms. This is your chance to meet friends and defeat powerful enemies to earn special four-star rewards. Think of it as a mini-invasion going on from all over Appalachia.

If you’ve been waiting for a new Fallout single-player game, you might not want to hold your breath. Recently it was reported that Jeff Gerstmann reported that the “thing” of Fallout in the development studio owned by Microsoft was shelved and “will not see the light of day.” He also expects rumors that Fallout 3 and the New Vegas remake will be released by a foreign studio. As for the new Fallout games, Gerstmann expects that Todd Howard and Bethesda will have a “strong understanding” of them.
