BMC Manufacturing will create 500 jobs by 2028

The new roles were announced at an event where Enterprise Ireland also discussed export outcomes for 2025 and the wider landscape.
Irish electrical engineering company BMC Manufacturing has announced the creation of 500 new jobs to be filled between now and 2028, as part of a major expansion plan. The roles, supported by Enterprise Ireland, will be across a range of roles, including engineeringtechnology and performance.
The organisation, founded in Meath, in 1991, develops and delivers innovations in the low voltage transformer and critical energy solutions spaces.
Colm Sheridan, BMC Manufacturing’s CEO and CFO, told SiliconRepublic.com that the roles will be split mainly between Dublin and Meath-based locations in Damastown, Ballycoolin, Kells and Ashbourne, noting the importance of being able to tap into a strong, regional talent pool.
He said, “Jobs are in all business sectors, especially manual manufacturing, which will include electricians, mechanical and electrical engineers, apprentices, QA, QC, IT and all departments of administration, finance, procurement and HR. This is to meet our expected growth in the next two years.”
He was very encouraging school leavers to consider applying for an apprenticeship with the organization, which means there are many opportunities for career progression.
He said, “People have done their own thing.” apprenticeship here now hold management roles across the company. All production managers have spent their time as students of the school with us. There are endless opportunities as a new electrical apprentice.”
Commenting on the new roles, at the Enterprise Ireland and BMC manufacturing event earlier today (15 June), Minister for Business, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke, TD, said, “The Government, working with our partners in Enterprise Ireland and across the business ecosystem, is committed to supporting Irish companies to grow and become global leaders in their field and BMC Manufacturing is clear evidence of that.”
“From the beginning as a small company in Meath, to now where its technology is used around the world, BMC Manufacturing is a true Irish success. I would like to congratulate Brendan, Colm and the rest of their team on this important step and wish them all the best in this new chapter in their journey.”
A solid year
The announcement of the jobs was made in conjunction with the publication of Enterprise Ireland’s Annual Business Results 2025, which found that the companies it supports achieved record exports last year of more than €38bn.
This is an 8pc increase on the previous year, as the turnover of Enterprise Ireland’s client companies has increased significantly over the past decade, up almost 90pc from 2015 when it was €20.6bn.
Also reaching a record high, Enterprise Ireland reported that spending by its clients in the Irish economy by 2025, reached €43.73bn last year, standing at around €120m per day on payments, goods and services.
Exports to Europe and the UK both exceeded 11 billion euros for the first time, these two markets now account for 29pc of all exports each and exports to North America remained stable, continuing to be the third largest market. Exports there grew to €7.34bn by 2025, a 1pc increase on the previous year.
The Nordics also saw the largest increase in exports to the region, rising by 39pc to €2.78bn. Enterprise Ireland reported that this was largely driven by a significant increase in exports of high quality construction materials to the region. As a result the Nordics now account for a total of 7pc of Enterprise Ireland’s customer exports, more than double the 3pc total accounted for in 2015.
Particularly strong performance was recorded in high-tech construction and climate technology and renewable energy, as both increased their exports by 24pc by 2025. Additionally, the digital technology company’s shipments increased by 12pc.
Welcoming the findings, Burke said, “These results published today by Enterprise Ireland on behalf of its clients demonstrate the strength, ambition and resilience of Irish business.
“These results underline the important role Irish businesses play in driving economic growth, creating jobs and strengthening Ireland’s position in international markets. The Irish Government is committed to supporting these companies to continue to grow and we will continue to work with our partners in Enterprise Ireland and across the ecosystem to ensure we deliver a supportive economic environment where they can thrive.”
