OSRS: Stymphike Hunter Guide

Are you bored of running around Gielinor, chasing critters endlessly? Looking for something a little cooler, more comfortable? Well, you have come to the right place.
In the latest update, in the Blood Moon Rises quest, players will gain access to a new hunter training mode, possibly one of the most comfortable in the entire game. And don’t worry, you won’t have to sacrifice XP or!
Stymphikes are a new type of creature in Old School Runescape, found only in the bloody Vampyrium. Fortunately for us, they are not very aware of their surroundings, allowing us to hunt with very little effort. Let’s take a look at this new hunter method and how to stop it!
What is required
Like I said, before you start this, you’ll need to be done The Blood Moon Riseswhich is a challenge in itself, being perhaps the trickiest quiz so far!
Additionally, you will need 82 The hunter catch these birds in reality, so I would like to advise training with Rumor Hunter until you reach that point.
Finally, you can’t catch Stymphikes with regular bait. Instead, you’ll need to bring a stack Letvekswhich is another type of hunter creature found in Vampyrium. For this, bring many Box Traps as you can use at your level.
If you haven’t unlocked any shortcuts, bring the pickaxe.
Catching Letveks
Before we get into the method itself, we need to cover how to find the bait.
If you play a regular account, you can simply buy Letveks from The Grand Exchangealthough it is quite cheap, especially considering how many you pass through in an hour. If you want to save money, you can handle the Letveks yourself.
First, you will need to go to south hunter area in Vampyrium, shown on the map above. To get there, head east through Sangvesti and cross the bridge, towards the Maggot King’s arena. Continue east, then take the forest path south, then west. If you haven’t saved Scout from mosquito enemies, do so now to unlock the shortcut.
Once you get to Apsul Hunting Groundhead northwest to the agility shortcut icon. Here you will see a bridge blocked by debris. Use your pick to mine, and now you will be able to go to this place directly from Sangvesti instead of going into the forest.
Now, go to the area full of Letveks, and start laying down your Box Traps. If you have hunted Chinchompas before, this works exactly the same way.
After an hour of hunting these animals. I caught about 500 and reached 100k xp per hour. Honestly, while this isn’t the best method in the world, in terms of XP per hour, it’s nothing to scoff at.
Catching Stymphikes
Main Method
OK, now you have a nice stack of Letveks, it’s time to move on to the next Hunter area. The place you will find Stymphikes is touch west of the King of Worms arenajust north of the Scout intersection.
Before you start, you should grab a good amount of Makeshift Spears. You can find these in a pile on the ground near one of the trees. Grab as many as you want, as these are free and unlimited.
Next, choose one of the red headed Stymphike trees and copy it by left clicking. Here you will cut one of the Letveks from the branch. Note that while you will only use 1 Letvek at a time, it is possible that a couple will be removed from your inventory, meaning you can use 2 or 3.
At this point, find one of the nearby purple trees and hide in it. Now all you have to do is wait. After a while, usually around 30-40 seconds, a Stymphike will appear. During this waiting period, your character will always be peeking through the woods, giving you 125 Hunter XP each time.
As soon as the bird sits. You can wait for your character to peek into the forest, where he will attack and kill Stymphike, or click it yourself to skip the wait.
Hourly XP and Rewards
Killing Stymphike grants 1350 Hunter XP, and bones, flesh, and 15 Stymphike Feathers. However, it is also possible not to kill a Stymphike by throwing your spear. It’s unlikely, but if you don’t kill it, Stymphike will fly up, give you a little XP and force you to eat the tree again.
After an hour of holding the Stymphikes, I was measuring any departure 125k-130k Hunter XP per hourwith a Hunter level of 96. I wasn’t paying much attention either, which is a huge bonus if you want to put in an episode or do something else while training. With a low hunter level, you probably won’t be able to kill Stymphikes very often, but it shouldn’t affect your XP per hour too much.
As for the feathers, they can be given The Aranei. One of these scouts can be found in the Castle Courtyard, near the portal. For every 30 feathers given, you can kill one Venator if you are inactive.
These Venators, found in 2 Southern Hunting Grounds, are killed for it ≈ 1/900 chance to drop a Blood Shard. Of course, if you kill them off-taskyou won’t see any bosses, who have a high chance of dropping Blood Shards, so take that into account.
In short, this is an amazing training mod, perfect for mains and irons who want more AFK mods. If you haven’t got 99 Hunter yet, this is your chance!
