8 Things You Must Do to Prepare for Deltarune Chapters 6 and 7

After waiting years between chapters, we are now closer to the end of Deltarune than the beginning. For me, as someone who was there when Chapter 1 was released for free one awesome Halloween, it can honestly make my head spin. Our time to explore these Dark Worlds is running out. Every mystery that haunts us in the back of our minds has a truth, and we are getting closer to discovering that truth every day.

According to Toby Fox, Chapter 6 has an estimated release date of 2027, and I have a feeling we may have to wait another two years after that. We have time to make this world happy, so let’s take a look at what we should all strive to do in Deltarune to make sure we get the best ending possible. Because, really, who knows what will happen with the Toby Fox game?

You Must Catch Them All!

One of the most fun things about exploring the Dark World in Deltarune is finding new enemies in every chapter. Who will be this time? Will it be a sensitive holy water that can sing? A shadow that speaks with jazzy sounds? A beautiful bird that goes “nyon?” Every time, there is something surprising and exciting to interact with in battle. Most of the enemies you can find in Deltarune can be recruited, meaning you will be able to see and interact with them again in Castle Town after the end of the chapter.

Once a chapter is over, there is no real way to return to it after playing the entire chapter again. Deltarune’s chapter select features work well to avoid a lot of the back-and-forth frustrations of many RPG sequels, but it still stings when you finish a chapter and realize you’ve left an important person or NPC behind. (Like the original… Starwalker.) Before the end, I feel like we should collect them all. Just in case.

Complete Chapter 5

Enjoy these Suns

Deltarune Chapter 5 Justice

These Dark Worlds really live up to their names, giving us a whole lot of worlds to explore in each chapter. Chapter 5 is a shining example of this. There is so much to do and see that it can truly be called a world of its own. Flowers go a long way to ensure that everyone has a great time and lives their dreams to the fullest. This positive vibe combined with such a great amount of content is why I feel everyone should finish Chapter 5 before playing Chapter 6, or Chapter 7.

You may think you have already done that. “That’s free for getting your Chapter 6 completion data,” or something. I don’t mean to end it the way Deltarune says. I mean 100% completion method. Go really deep into this Dark World and see everything, even a cat that might bite your hand. There is no real deep reason or possible prediction behind this change. I feel like the hope of Chapter 5 is worth getting before diving into the last two chapters. It will make the impact more powerful.

Find Things

Use it! That! Storage!

Not only does Deltarune have tons of unique enemies in every chapter, but it also introduces new items regularly. There are only a few things that come in future chapters under certain circumstances. With so many creative and fun things to do, everyone is bound to have a few favorites. Whether you’ve chosen the most functional items or you love the funny names they all have, there’s no wrong choice.

If you like one thing above all others, what’s wrong with spending a little more time in the chapter to make more friends, earn a bunch of Black Dollars, and get as much of that thing as possible? Deltarune gives us 48 storage slots to fill, and I don’t know about you, but I didn’t start using them until Chapter 5. (Thanks, Flowery.) Considering things are going to get tough from here, I think stockpiling things you know you’re planning well will help you in unexpected ways. So, let’s start grinding!

Beat the Secret Boss

Collect Shadow Crystals

In case you didn’t know, (and if so, how?) Deltarune has a secret boss to fight in each chapter. Some chapters, like Chapter 3, have more than one secret encounter. The most important of these bosses have an item called a Shadow Crystal that you can get from them. We don’t know exactly what purpose the Shadow Crystals will serve as we get closer to the end, but it should be important. Once you get it, it can be recovered if you re-enter your money in that space, without having to fight the boss again.

That says a lot about these bosses, doesn’t it? If you want them to be, they’re a one-time challenge to get something valuable. Even if you don’t feel like you have what it takes, why not take them? Like I said, we don’t know if they’re going to change the ending or something dramatic like that. Seam says they’ll do something about them if we collect all five, so why not enjoy yourself and test your bullet hell?

Play the Game Closer to Chapter 7’s Release Date

Do not rust

Deltarune Original Game

To be honest, I think Chapter 5 marked the split between casual and serious Deltarune players. There were many people who said that Florayy’s fight was too difficult, but there were also others who thought that he was good and everyone needed to do well. The developers have gone in and made Florayy easier the more you fight him, but they won’t be able to do that forever.

The next two final bosses – that we know of – are likely to be even stronger. The same goes for any future secret managers. We will want to be sharp as we sink into the final. I know it will sound easy to just open the game and play Chapter 6 or 7 with the ending files you had from the beginning, but it might be best if we practice before the ending. I feel like the final game will put “hell” in bullet hell.

Find the Gear You Love

Gear Up

One of the reasons why some players struggle with bosses at this stage of the game is because Deltarune didn’t care much about stats in the previous chapters. A lot of accessories give valuable stats and buffs, but most of them aim to do something stupid. Things that boost Ralsei’s appearance stats and flexibility come to mind. It’s fun, but it doesn’t work well.

The good thing about this is that you can use your favorite gear without worrying too much. If you can dodge the bullets, you can use any items you like. If you know where your limits are with the game, figuring out how to balance that should come naturally. Other items are found by digging deep into the secrets of Deltarune, such as the Shadow Mantle. It will be a struggle to find some of them, but at least the content you will encounter in this issue will help make it more useful.

Buy Deltarune twice

I’m Not Taking Any Chances

Deltarune Weird Ch2 Noelle Joins

I get it. Times are tough, and games are getting more and more expensive. I realize that advising you to re-buy any game sounds like heresy. My counterpoint is simple: Deltarune is a Toby Fox game. Do you know what his other game is? Undertale. You know. (Or at least I hope you know Undertale.) The same game is that if you played Killing Lane and went and got the Pacifist Ending, your ending will be changed forever. The happy ending would always be out of character for Chara players, no matter how many times you played it.

We don’t know what the fate of Deltarune will be, or if there will be a single ending as Trick Tony teased. Depending on the system you play Deltarune on, undoing any damage will range from deleting your save data to messing with your Steam cloud. I think having a second copy just to avoid deleting data after I’m done with everything might be a good investment.

Find All Eggs

Tell The Man Who Forgot I Say “Hello”

Deltarune Forgot the Man

The “egg room” is hidden in every chapter of Deltarune up to Chapter 6. Despite its name, you will find a tree and a man in this room who will take the time to talk to Kris. After their conversation, you will give them an egg.

These are some of the most common places in Deltarune, and they are all hard to find. It was a bit of a real Easter egg for fans to find one last time. After the scene in chapter 5, however, it seems that there may be more to these eggs. If you collect the one in Chapter 5, beat the secret boss, and encounter the strange LAW near the Shrine, you’ll get a secret dialogue with the merchant near the castle. He will warn you that cat bites are no joke, and you need to avoid protein from them. This is the first clue we have that eggs may be important. So, maybe we should collect them. Just in case.

Yes, after all this, I probably sound confused. After the surprise of Undertale, though, I don’t think anyone can blame me.
