New Witcher 3 DLC First Look Date Revealed

Geralt’s fans eager to see his return will get to see his latest adventure soon, as the release date for the first preview of The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past has been revealed, and it’s only a few weeks away.

Fans thought CD Projekt Red was done with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as the company is already gearing up for The Witcher 4, with trailers showing Ciri doing things in a cool new way. Rumors began to circulate that more content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was on the way, mainly to fill the holes in the program left by The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2077 2, and the upcoming remake of the original The Witcher.

In May 2026, CD Projekt Red announced The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, an upcoming DLC that could also be a prequel. Back then, all that was revealed was the release window and platforms, and one piece of key art, but that’s about to change. The official The Witcher Twitter/X account revealed when fans will be able to see the DLC in action, and it will be among the biggest events in the gaming calendar.

The Witcher 3: Classics Is Coming To Gamescom

The first preview of The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past will be shown at the Opening Night Live event at Gamescom 2026, on August 25 at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 8 pm CEST. Those who tune in to the show will see Geralt in all his PlayStation 4/Xbox One-era glory, even though The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past is coming only to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

It is not clear how long the first look will be, especially since The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past is not expected to be presented until the Summer of 2027, but if CD Projekt Red promotes it early and does not allow it to be a big surprise during the show, then it will be an important trailer, not just a joke. If it’s just a five-second clip of Geralt taunting, fans will be in a frenzy.

There are still many questions about The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, most notably whether it is a prequel, a sequel, or a tie-in to the upcoming The Witcher 4. It can be all three, when Geralt gets a glimpse of his previous journey, which may have been created by the monster shown in the DLC story of the main art The Witcher’s main set: The Witcher’s main set after the Hunt.

It is possible that The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past will include a sequel hook for The Witcher 4. The DLC offers a good opportunity for Geralt to pass the torch, or in this case, two swords, to Ciri, as he takes the role of the main character, and gets to return to Kaer Morhen and enjoy something that the young Witcher likes when he reaches retirement where he arrives.
