Where to find Magikarp and Learn to Jump in Pokémon Pokopia

It threw me for a loop during my Pokémon Pokopia playthroughs when Magikarp started singing “I wake up, and nothing can bring me down.”
Or maybe I’m thinking about Van Halen.
However, Magikarp is still important here as it is the Pokémon that will teach you the Jump ability. Turns out the infamous Pokémon isn’t for nothing! The advantage of jumping is that it is a much more fluid movement to navigate the world of Pokémon Pokopia compared to the natural jumping that your character will do.
Jumping is incredibly useful as you explore more of the world around you, including digging beneath the surface and discovering the secrets that await you.
Let’s talk about where to get Magikarp first, and then how to get it to teach you the Jump skill.
Where to Find Magikarp in Pokémon Pokopia
From the starting point of the game, turn around and head towards the small cave structure.
You’ll see light brown rocks near the wall that have been repaired and are ready to be hit by the Rock Smash skill.
To learn Rock Smash, you will need to talk to find and talk to Hitmonchan.
Break them, and you will gain access to a new area by the sea.
Make your way to the beach, and you’ll see a struggling Makigarp busy doing Magikarp things. Don’t worry, though, as it’s in a state of flux.
How to Learn Jump in Pokémon Pokopia
Magikarp is not happy, as it looks for a place to make its home. This is where you come in.
You will receive an official request from Magikarp to create a fishing spot in the Sea, which requires the following three things:
-
1 Fishing rod
-
1 seat (of any type)
-
Sea water nearby
Good news: there is plenty of water in the Sea nearby, so there is no need to worry about that. There is also a fishing rod nearby that you can pick up. The only thing missing is a chair, and you’ll be able to make a Log chair at the nearby crafting station, provided you have one log handy.
To make a Log chair, all you need is one small log.
Once you complete the settlement, Magikarp will express his gratitude for teaching you the Jump skill. Congratulations! Now you are free to jump, jump up, and down to your heart’s desire. Best of all, the Jump skill does not consume any PP when used. It’s completely free; all you need to do is press the R button.
Use this ability to explore all around you. You’ll never know what awaits you in the world of Pokémon Pokopia until you check it out!
