Nvidia Kept Developers In The Dark About DLSS 5 Showcase

A few days ago, the NVIDIA giant revealed its new DLSS 5 AI-powered face technology, which did not go exactly as planned. The company even revealed the games that have already been released to prove how much “improvement” this new technology will bring to the table.
Apparently, even the devs who worked on the games themselves weren’t informed about their projects getting the DLSS 5 treatment.
Resident Evil 5 Remake is reportedly not in development but another RE Remake
There is good rumored news for Resident Evil fans.
Given how controversial this topic is, this adds a whole can of fuel to the fire.
Ubisoft Devs Didn’t Know Their Project Was Getting The DLSS 5 Treatment
According to anonymous Insider Gaming sources who are said to work at Ubisoft, the reveal of DLSS 5 happened to them at the same time as the general public knew about it.
One Ubisoft dev said, “We got it at the same time as the community.”
Additionally, Capcom developers also told the website that the announcement and involvement is “shocking,” as Capcom has been staunchly “anti-AI.” At the unveiling, Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem was one of the titles shown to see how much improvement DLSS 5 can make to games, or whether or not the technology has improved Grace Ashcroft’s appearance.
Capcom developers also told the website that the announcement and even the involvement is “shocking,” as Capcom has been staunchly “anti-AI.”
Reportedly, some devs at Capcom feared that the announcement of DLSS 5 could signal a change in the company’s approach to using AI to produce game development. Keep in mind that these are from anonymous sources and should not be taken as official quotes from any company.
Like it or not, it seems that AI will be a part of gaming and game development for the foreseeable future. Is DLSS 5 a good thing? That depends on who you ask, but even the improvements it supposedly brings to the table are debatable, as not everyone who is a fan of their game’s characters gets the AI shine.
At the end of the day, it’s up to game developers how much they want or need to use DLSS 5 in their games, and I hope it’s used sparingly.
