Dominus Automa is an MMO for Healthy People

Dominus Automa is inactive MMORPG featuring wacky game design for people who don’t have all the time in the world, or maybe people who would rather not grind themselves. It’s a fresh idea that made an interesting leap in a genre that I would consider stagnant for the most part.
MMOs have a pretty strict set of rules, and Dominus Automa looks to break some of those rules by making the game focus on setting up systems and environments like Factoro, while still giving you control. This idle game will always run on your character, so you can do what you need to do while you grind and do boring things.

Gaming even if you’re AFK
This was incredibly creative to see in action, and I even got some time with it alone to experience the game from scratch, which gave me a better understanding of how things work. This preview will focus on the kind of changes the game brings to the MMORPG scene, as well as other things that I personally really enjoy about the idea behind the game.
What is Dominus Automa?
At its core, Dominus Automa is an MMORPG that takes the form of a passive game. That might sound weird, and in many ways it really is, but it’s really just a new way to play an MMO that doesn’t involve you being glued to the screen the whole time. This works well, especially if you have other commitments outside of gaming that are not easy to work on.
The way it works is similar to a regular MMO. You will create a character, choose a class, and go to the races. The only difference is that your character is kind of their own person, not in an evil AI way, but instead you’ll be telling them what you want them to do. You can do this through messaging apps like WhatsApp or Discord, or you can just type or talk to your character directly in the game.

Minecraft on Controller is the worst experience ever.
Granted they have some sass to throw at you if you’re not specific enough or if you spell something wrong, but they’ll usually understand and go about their business. It’s not all automatic yet, but you can tell your character to do almost anything, and he’ll be teleported to complete whatever task you give him.
You will still need to help them a little, and you can get better control over what they do in different combat situations, with different skill levels. This can be based on you or the enemy being at a certain level of health before casting something, or you can do it based on distance. It can go as deep as you’d like, but the best part is that you can have it do all the grinding parts you’re not interested in while you’re gone.
Playing a Game Without Playing a Game
It’s a strange concept, isn’t it? You wouldn’t think something like this would work so well, but it’s actually pretty cool not having to sit there and control everything. Right now, you can’t control your character beyond setting up situations and giving orders, but there’s plenty of time for that to change.
This makes the game a little more grounded and more about planning and communication than anything else. Even PvP is dictated by the conditions you set up, so finding the best setup for your class is the best plan. It doesn’t seem like death would be much of a punishment without slowing down your digestion.
8 MMORPGs with an Incredible Class System
With variety, depth, and creativity, these massive multiplayer games have managed to attract all types of users according to their play styles.
You can communicate with your character while offline by sending them messages and giving them something to do. They will do that forever until they die, at which point they will reproduce and move on. It gives you a lot of freedom to play the game in the background or not open the game until you need to do something with other people.
There are still ways to interact with people and run things like bosses and dungeons, but it will work differently as you’ll be linking your buildings and strategies rather than needing to log in together at the same time, although that’s still the easiest option.
A New Kind of Pleasure
This was a unique concept for me. I never even thought of the idea that you could have a passive MMO that you could play without needing to play regularly. It helps take the pressure off when it comes to MMOs that often demand a good chunk of your time. It’s not a game you’ll have to sit down and play for hours, although that’s still an option.
I will say it felt weird not playing as my character, but instead playing with them, if that makes sense. You’re not really your character, and instead, you’re like their god controlling them behind the scenes. It didn’t last very long, but still, it caught me off guard at first.
It’s still really fun, especially if you have something you need or want to do, but still want to enjoy a good MMO. It has old-school Runescape graphics, and while the low poly count probably won’t change, the devs assured me that they have an artist working on making everything a little different.
This game has some amazing creativity behind it, and it will be interesting to see where the game ends up as it gets closer to release. Although there is still a ways to go, I think the foundation is already in place for something that will define the true brand, especially for people who lead busy lives. You can check out the Steam page to try out the playtest and find out if this might be of interest to you, and look out for the alpha starting in June.
