How to Defeat the Hands of Israel in Windrose

Windrose provides you with a long main quest line that takes you all over the map. As part of this quest, you are tasked with defeating several bosses, the first of which is Thomas Richards.

After progressing through the campaign and reaching the Needle in Haystack’s quest, you are tasked with tracking down Israel Hands and sending him to the afterlife. Of course, this is easier said than done, as this boss is much harder than the first one.

Let’s break down everything you need to know to help you take down Israel Hands in Windrose with as little trouble as possible.

Israel Hands Boss War Preparation

Israel Hands is much harder to defeat than your average enemy, and is a nice step up in difficulty from the first boss in the game. Fortunately, the tricks of the first boss can help you prepare for the second.

First, you’ll want to take advantage of the two-meal limit. At this point in the game, you have to build a farm, and have food cooked. Instead of relying on simple foods like bananas, you’ll want to make sure you’re eating two different foods.

I recommend eating foods that apply buffs to your current stats. For example, if you choose to use skill-based weapons, you’ll want to eat foods that increase your strength. Either way, you will benefit greatly from the health boost this food provides, and it will be very helpful during boss fights.

Second, you’ll want to make sure you bring powerful weapons and armor into battle. Currently, you can level your weapons and armor up to level 10. You should also be able to level up your jewelry and weapons, so be sure to do this before fighting.

Some recommended weapons and armor for this battle are:

Rapier of a Thousand Cuts: Dealing damage causes the enemy to bleed, dealing damage over time. Heals temporary health when leveling up.
Dueling Greatsword: Successful Parries grant you revenge, increasing your damage by 30%.
Hard Mace: Increase your standing points by 1.
Strong Rapier: Increase the total blocking time window.
Conquistador Weapon Set: Two pieces increase your resistance to damage.
Pikeman’s Weapon Set: Two pieces increase your maximum health by 160.

Additionally, you will want to wear jewelry that enhances your abilities. For example, if you’re using a rapier, you’ll want a piece of jewelry that increases piercing damage.

Finally, you’ll want to make sure you bring plenty of potions. You can carry 10 stacks of medicine, so having one stack should give you plenty of combat healing. Additionally, you may want to bring Elixirs of Cruelty to further increase your damage output.

As the boss, Israel Hands has many attacks that you will have to worry about, some of which are impossible to block, forcing you to dodge. Remember that this boss also has a lot of melee attacks, so stay alert.

Ethereal Stab	The spirit of the hands leaves his body holding the halberd, and he rushes forward, leaving a trail of ethereal essence in his wake. This attack can also launch ethereal skulls at you.	Dodge to the left or right as the Hands approach you. Dodge extra times to avoid the skulls when they spawn.
Ethereal Skull Barrage	The hands open several ethereal skulls for you. During this attack, the Hands will rise into the air, launching at least three skulls into the air. These will fly to you.	Turn to the side to avoid the skulls and dodge if necessary until they are gone.

Israel Hands Strategy

Israel Hands is a faster boss than the first one, so be prepared to react quickly. At the start of the fight, you’ll want to go in and attack as the Hands get up, as this will allow you to get some damage.

After this, prepare for the revenge of the hands. He will probably attack with his sword combo, so be prepared to block. Another very visible move is the sword spin. If he uses this, dodge back and attack.

You’ll only want to hit Hands two or three times, as the attack range is very small. When using a two-handed weapon, attack only once or twice.

The hands are worse than the previous boss, which means he is not addicted to using certain attacks easily. Stay alert, and when he lifts into the air, watch out for skulls flying at you or for him to charge. In both cases, you can avoid the attack by running or paddling.

When facing the Hands sword attack, remember that he attacks three times in a row most of the time, and make sure to time your blocks accordingly so that he can interfere.

He usually attacks with two back-to-back combos, allowing you to easily break his stance if you can block. Use this opportunity to punish him with an attack.

Although you can use different weapons during this battle, they are not very effective against Hands. This is because you will usually dodge the bullets you shoot. From time to time, you will be able to hit him with a bullet, but they are wasted a lot, so it is better to time your shots carefully or don’t waste the gun.

Additionally, you should be able to unlock the pig friend before this boss battle. This ally can die quickly in battle, but it’s not much of a distraction if you need to heal or need a short break from combat.
