10 Reasons Why Starsand Island is the Perfect Getaway

I play video games as much for stories and characters as I do just to get a break from the real world. Starsand Island is one of those games that I find myself coming back to just because it feels like a much needed vacation. There are many reasons why Starand Island succeeds as a cool game, and the island vibes are only a small part of it.

12 Best Games With Multiple Collections

Casual games are great, but casual games with endless collectibles? Even better. From feathers to fish, these are the hardest games to collect

Starsand Island itself is as much a beach destination as it is for the island’s residents. The combination of a beach town and a farming game puts you in a place where it feels like a vacation, even if you’re working. This vibe is present in every aspect of the game, from island design to weather, food, and clothing options. Here are some of the ways Starand Island is one of my favorite escape games.

Lots of Beautiful Clothes

A Dress for Any Occasion

Clothes go a long way in establishing a setting, and I’m the type of player who likes my character to change her outfit and hair before she leaves the house for the day. I am very happy with the variety of summer clothes, many of which are not suitable for a farmer, but are suitable for combing the beach and shopping in the city.

Starand Island’s many clothing options just scream beach vibes. Even in the coldest months of the year, clothing includes fashion options that wouldn’t look out of place in a style magazine. Many people tend to dress this way while on vacation, and many of the swimsuits and summer dresses are designed for a hot vacation.

Starsand Island Is Easily Walkable

It Doesn’t Take Forever to Get to Places

Starsand Island itself is the perfect size. You can walk across the island in a few minutes, which means a few hours in the game. This makes it the perfect size for a walk-in space, and offers a variety of spaces in a small space.

There are many ways to get around the island, all exciting in their own way. Using a skateboard or rollerblades is stupid, and my poor character’s knees must be destroyed from all the sick tricks I make him do to save time while walking. Wide spaces, beautiful scenery, and easily accessible trails make Starsand Island a place all its own.

Cool Weather

Perfect Outdoor Weather

Rainy days, even in cozy games, can be predictable, with rain turning into thunderstorms. However, even the rainy days on Starsand Island are pleasant, soaking the earth gently and giving you a day off from many farming activities. Because the rain isn’t heavy, it doesn’t feel awkward to work outside, making the outdoors a year-round option.

The cool climate of this island is well suited to the concept of Starsand Island as a tourist destination, regardless of the weather or season. The lack of extreme weather means that even going out to sea can be done all year round.

Good Stores

Get the Vibe Right from the start

Starsand Island has shops all over the island, but most of them are concentrated in the center of the main town. The shops themselves are stunning and beautifully decorated, each displaying the goods they sell. They also excel at perfectly matching the island vacation feel, and the owner’s personality shines through in the decor choices and display choices.

Shops such as Lunelle clothing store and pattern, coffee shop, and even a general store all have a small town but a tourist spot. They sell essential items for the island’s residents, but the dishes in the restaurant and the special sewing patterns of the region also reflect the island’s tourism.

6

A Small But Modern City

Starsand Town is meant to be visited

The main town on Starsand Island is small, but everything has a purpose, and feels very populated and lived in. Despite its size, it is well designed, and has a unique and modern architectural style. Touches like the wisteria trellis lining the street, the art on the walls, and the asphalt road in town all give the vibe of a town that has benefited from tourism.

Getting around the city is really easy as all the streets are connected and the city layout is designed for efficiency, making it as easy to walk as it is in a car.

Visitors Everywhere

This is Holiday’s place

Many cozy gaming towns tend to be populated only by their own residents, which makes them feel a little cut off from the wider world. Starsand Island is filled with more NPCs than its inhabitants, so much so that it feels special when you spot them in the crowd. Filler NPCs are simply labeled “Tourist”.

Casual games have evolved over time, with some leading ones offering rewarding exploration among other new features, but not all of them are successful.

While this isn’t particularly interesting, it makes it feel like Starsand Island is a tourist destination and exists as part of a wider world. Having so many visitors also drives home that Starand Island is a tourist destination, and staying there feels like a vacation.

4

Food

Everything Tastes Better on Vacation

Cooking is often a big part of cozy games, and the small amount of different recipes in Starsand Island makes me very happy as a foodie. The cuisine of Starsand Island goes a long way in establishing itself as a desirable destination, and Aurelis is an outside chef who came to the island for its natural produce.

There are many food options on Starsand Island, and many of them are derived from South-East and East Asian cuisine, such as coconut rice, steamed fish dishes, dumplings, and sashimi. Starsand Island Cuisine is based heavily on what exists in the real world, putting you at the center of a place that feels like it could be real.

3

It is a Visitor Center for Other Games

Meet Characters from Other Games

It’s hard to ignore that Starsand Island is a tourist destination where characters from other shows visit the island during their vacations. Ginger and Gust from My Time at Portia, and Nia and Fang from My Time at Sandrock visit the island unexpectedly, under the pretext of getting fresh air and improving their health.

Having guests from other shows goes a long way to making Starsand Island feel like a place, maybe even one that your characters from My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock can visit. It transforms Starsand Island from a small, independent island into a part of a much larger world.

2

Beach Festival

Celebrate the Holiday

Beach vacations often coincide with events as people make the most of the warm weather. The Starsand Island beach festival is the ultimate summer holiday event. There are night concerts, events to participate in during the day, stalls to buy limited edition clothing and recipes, and a lot of preparation work in the days before the event starts.

Another nice touch is that the festival itself exists as a way of giving thanks to the goddess of the sea, making the festival part of the history of Starsand Island. This gives the festival more depth, and hopefully can be expanded once Starsand Island leaves Early Access.

1

All Beach Vibes

Spend Your Days at the Beach

Tropical vacations are one of the most desirable vacation spots, and Starsand Island delivers. The beach is just a stone’s throw away from wherever you are on Starsand Island. You can see the sea from the top of the hill in the temple, while it is a few steps from your first home.

Having the beach nearby at all times goes a long way in driving home the tropical vacation feel of Starsand Island. Taking a day off from farming or mining and spending a day at the beach makes it feel like a hot vacation despite the fact that you’re right there at home.
