Gray Zone Warfare: Skycrawlers Walkthrough

When he’s not busy asking you to mark the bodies of PMCs or complaining about the Handshake method of doing things, Gunny’s favorite thing to do in Gray Zone Warfare is sticking his nose into the local drug-trafficking business.

The Skycrawlers application, located at the shrinking airport west of Pha Lang, leads you on a short journey to acquire and report local operational data under the Viper Tactical Services main domain. My job here is simple: tell you what to find, where to find it, and how to stay alive in this short visit to Lamang’s premier airport hub.

Skycrawlers Quest Walkthrough

Skycrawlers is the main story quest in Gray Zone Warfare, and access to it depends on unlocking the Pha Lang Airfield area of operations.

The operation is against Thai soldiers of the Viper Tactical Services, who are armed only with M4A1 rifles and wear body armor rated at NIJ level III or III+. They all fire M855 green tip rounds, which can defeat all weapons rated at level III or below.

The Sawmill northwest of Fort Narith has more than just sawdust.

There are two ways to do this: either bring a heavy vest rated above that, or skip body armor altogether in favor of agility.

If you prefer to err on the side of caution but don’t have access to good equipment or ammo from merchants, I like to hit the Midnight Sapphire south bridge checkpoint for quick, ready-to-wear kits with decent protection and ammo that beats Viper merc vests.

The location of Pha Lang Airport is one of the possible locations for Viper, the local team leader. If he is there, you will have to deal with him and four guards wearing heavy vests to reach the goal.

Find and Report a List on the North Road of Pha Lang Airfield

After accepting the request, your first stop will be a roadblock set up on the road north of the airport. You can find it at grid coordinates (180,160), facing east of the fenced house. Expect two enemies there, and a chance for five walkers.

Search the wrecked car on the south side of the road. The driver will be lying next to it dead, with a pamphlet next to his hand (List of People). Read it to pass the results on to Gunny and advance the quest.

Investigate Pha Lang Airport and Find Evidence of Drug Trafficking

Armed with the list, you now need to go to the auxiliary hangars at the southeast end of the airfield for supplies.

Cross the runway, and proceed to the annex. You will need to take out 3-4 Viper Tactical Services PMCs there, one of which is usually hiding inside the target building.

The objective is in the eastern garage at coordinates (182,158), which also has a locked door (Pha Lang Airfield Storage key) and several forklifts. I prefer to enter it through the back door instead of the main gate so I’m less exposed to the hangar fire on the other side, but the flip side of that is annoying CQB if more than one enemy is trapped inside.

Approach the desk with the laptop in the corner, then examine the bricks on the table to report the evidence to Gunny.

Retrieve Logbook from Pha Lang Airfield and Report Back

Now comes the hard part of the Skycrawlers’ quest: hitting the Pha Lang Airfield terminal and finding the logbook that tracks the deliveries of the drug syndicate operating there.

The approaches to the terminal are well guarded. To the north, you have a Viper Tactical Services command post with a lot of enemies. If you hit it from the south, you have a checkpoint on the right, and a restaurant on the left, each with 3-5 enemies. Guards also roam the area between the airport and the hangar to the east.

My preferred method of silence is to enter the west gate, where your main concern should be fire from the terminal building itself, especially from the AI guards on the top floor.

Once you’re in the airfield itself, grab the west wall and walk southwest until you pass a locked meeting room, then go inside through the next door.

In the terminal, open the first door on the right to enter the messaging room with the old computer on. The logbook is located under the desk, on top of a pile of boxes.

Grab it, then run back to the base or a friendly outpost to deliver it to Gunny and complete the Skycrawlers quest.
