A Beginner’s Guide to the Far Far West

This co-op wild west game takes inspiration from games like Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers, so if you’ve played those, you’ll have a solid understanding of the basics. If you haven’t played those, don’t worry too much; There is a lot of depth here, but you can get the order of things easily.

We will break it down into several sections to make it a little more digestible. There are three major aspects of the game that you will need to know about: Spells, Weapons, and Equipment.

Characters: Making a big Boom

Could it really be robotic in the west without a little magic? Well, maybe, but the Far Far West doesn’t matter. In this game, you can equip up to three spells before each mission.

In total, there are five categories of spells to choose from:

  • Pyro
  • Electricity
  • Acid
  • Voodoo
  • Cactus

Each category has five different spells for players to use on their machines, but you’ll need to unlock the latest spells by gaining experience. Seems simple, right? However, there are a few conditions to that.

You will only get experience based on how often you use those spells during the mission. For example, if you use a very powerful Pyro spell during a mission, you will get a ton of Pyro information.

Spells don’t just deal a lot of damage and get a lot of kills, though; they can also be combined to create something bigger. There are tons of combinations out there with all the spellings to keep things interesting.

The easiest way to see this is to go to the shooting range at the Saloon. Here you can test the spells you have and see how they work together. Once you’ve heard them, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a legend.

Weapons: Being a Gunslinger

It wouldn’t be a great cowboy game if you can’t shoot a few walking bones on the way. The game has a lot of weapons in it already, with the promise of more on the way.

These weapons are available in one of two forms: Primary and Secondary. You can equip one of each of them before going on a mission, and you’ll want to plan carefully, considering how certain weapons work best with certain spells.

For Main Guns, you have one of five options:

  • Quad Cylinder
  • A gun
  • The Long Ranger
  • A small gun
  • Leverage

For second hand guns, you have five other options:

  • A revolver
  • Bow down
  • Dual Revolvers
  • Boomerang
  • Sheriff Stars

In fact, you can choose whichever suits your style better, but when you start, you will have Quad Cylinder and Revolver as your weapons. To unlock other weapons, you’ll need to track down their pieces in the weapons menu to find them in the world.

These pieces can be found in several places while you are out and about at work. There are Forges, Loot Goblins, and Bosses. Whenever you kill or complete one of these objectives, you will be rewarded with a piece of the piece.

You’ll still need a lot of gold to buy them once you’ve collected enough pieces, and you’ll need a lot of gold. Not only can you buy new weapons, but you can also upgrade them with Joker cards using Souls and increase their stats with gold.

You can always get back some spent gold to put points in other categories.

Hero Customization: Making the Wild West Your Own

Now is where things start to get even more interesting. You can upgrade your character’s individual stats for gold as you level up, and use Jokers the same way you did with guns.

There is a small caveat here, that most upgrades are more expensive than guns. They are restored in the same way, but they are increasingly expensive.

These upgrades can help you customize your build to suit whatever play style you want. If you like to jump, try hacking the Joker which makes you do more damage while in the air and increase your jump height in customization.

There are a lot of ways to really get down in the weeds with buildings, so you’ll want to make sure you try them out before you get too serious. You’re almost ready to go, cowboy.

Mission: Getting the Hang of Things

Now we come to the most important part of our guide. This one will tell you how to play the game and hopefully succeed, although that part is up to you and your skills.

The mechanics work in the same way as most cooperative games of this style; you will choose a goal and difficulty before you are released to complete it. The harder the task, the more rewards you can get. For every mission, you’ll complete one mission that has three parts: setup, boss, and takedown.

It’s not hard to see on the map itself as you’ll have a nice line to follow from target to target. Other objectives appear on the map, and you may need to complete them to get bonuses like Souls and gold.

Technically speaking, each mission has two parts that fold randomly: the objective and the boss. There doesn’t seem to be anything linking specific objectives to specific bosses, as you can find any boss for any purpose.

Objectives are things like building a gas bomb or escorting a TNT cart to a boss location. Each boss is annoying in a different way, so if you’re using something up close, you probably don’t want to take on a flying boss.

Far Far West Beginners Guide Mission Jokers

When you kill enemies or complete certain side objectives, Jokes may spawn for you and your team to answer. These will only last the whole purpose, so holding them all the time is not a bad idea.

While you’re out on the various maps, you can find secret quests like the Bell quest, which you can complete to unlock free Jokers and increase your weapons. There is also one NPC marked on most maps that offers a quest line to unlock something of value.

There’s a lot to do in these maps, but don’t forget that you’re never alone; you have your trusty steed there to help you and help you run across the map in no time.

Tips and tricks for success in the Wild West

Now that you understand the basics, here are some tips and tricks to ensure you get the success you want in this wonderful western world. None of this is gospel, so take it with a grain of salt and find your own way to play.

  • Do Everything — Any missions found on the map to complete will reward you with XP, gold, or Souls, so it’s worth completing everything if you can.
  • Bail Out When You Need It — You won’t get many bonuses if you fail to do something, so make sure you don’t overextend yourself before completing the main goal.
  • It rained — Gold is rare, but you will pass through it quickly. Whenever you find my gold stone, you must write it down. This will give you a good store of gold.
  • Use the Shooting Range – Checking other things in the shooting range is a good idea. It will allow you to understand how other things work together without getting bogged down in it.
  • Be Flexible – Take all you can. Even if you don’t like something, try mixing it with something else to see explosive results.
  • Run away — Sometimes a cowboy can strike. Don’t be afraid to jump on your horse and run through the hordes to get to safety. Survival is the key.
  • Open Your Heart and Party – It seems that most of the cow groups are willing to help, and if you are going out alone, leave the party open, so they can join you. It doesn’t hurt to get a little help.

This will not help you get better at the game if you are not willing to practice. This FPS game is fast and fun, but it will take some learning to get the hang of everything it has to offer, so don’t be afraid to try.
