How to Get the Tadpole Depth Module in Subnautica 2

While it may be tempting to stay in the Shallows, marveling at the wonders and friendly fish, at some point in your Subnautica 2 gameplay, you’ll have to brave the open sea and go a little deeper.

Much has been found in the deep sea that has changed, since shiny new minerals to unknown alien contraptions of all kinds strange and glorious creaturesready to run away or devour you whole!

However, diving deep with your Tadpole is not without its limits. While you may be equipped to survive the depths of a crush, your car is not. As soon as you get below 250m, your Tadpole will start to split.

So how do we fight this? Yes, the Deep Module, of course! Let’s see where we can find the Tadpole Depth Module Blueprint, and how to install it in our car!

Data Box Location

To find this diagram, we first need to find the data box that contains the information. This can be found as soon as you find the Alien Ruins area and settle in the eastern part of the map.

From Alien Ruins, turn southeast and start diving forward with your tadpole. Soon, you will see a huge underwater mountain full of water Needle Fish. This is a great place to stock up Celestine again Enamel creature for later use.

Just avoid the fish once head with a blue ring in a cave under a rock structure. You will notice that there is a small man-made light near the bottom hole. Leave your Tadpole near the top of the cave, just over 250m, and swim down the hole.

You will begin to hear the beeping sound and bright orange light of the Tadpole Wreck. In front of the crash is the Depth Module Data Box. While you’re here, you can also scan the wreckage for a piece of Tadpole Haul Chassiswhich can be used to carry additional items!

Building a Depth Module

Return to your base and confirm yours Switch Station fully enabled. If you don’t already have a Switch Station, you can find one at Alien Ruins hub.

To make a module, you will need the following items:

  • 3x Celestine
  • 2x Enameled Glass
  • 1x System chip

Celestine can be collected in the area around the Depth Module Data Box. The same can be said of Enamel creaturewhich cannot be combined with it Glass to do Enameled Glass.

I System chip can be built using the Fabricator by combining a Wiring Kit and 2 pieces Quartz.

Once you have your Depth Module, simply go back to your Tadpole and look up at the small rectangle just behind the power cell. Open it and insert your Depth Module into one of the boxes. And just like that, you’re done! Now your Tadpole can reach as deep as the surface 450m. Time to go exploring!
