ARC Raiders Introduces Controversial Feature To Fight Cheats

ARC Raiders is still one of the most popular games in the ever-growing genre of rib shooting. Sure, there are new competitors in the market like Far Far West, but you could easily argue that ARC Raiders is still the headhoncho in town.

With all that attention, naturally, comes people who want to get an edge any way they can. Sadly, this usually means scammers.

ARC Raiders Boss Explains New ‘Aggression Matchmaking’ System

Think twice before you shoot. ARC Raiders has matchmaking systems based on skill, as well as aggression.

Cheats in ARC Raiders have actually been a problem for longer than most may realize. Embark Studios has been trying to combat them for a while now, including testing kernel-level anti-chat to improve detection and accuracy in identifying cheaters.

Sadly, as anyone who plays the live service game knows, it always feels like the cheaters are one step ahead of the developers. ARC Raiders Adds Denuvo Anti-Cheat in Upcoming Update

As part of their upcoming 1.29.0 patch, Embark confirms that they are adding Denuvo Anti-Cheat soon to “capture a smaller player pool.” After taking a closer look at the situation, there are plans to expand it into a multiplayer domain.

The name “Denuvo” is something of a boogeyman in the industry due to problems arising from its DRM system, and many loyal Linux players are afraid of what this means for them. “I’m a PVE player, there’s no reason to cheat anything. Denuvo has a bad reputation for messing up performance and stability, so now I’m sweating over what might break when I wake up,” said one nervous player on the Arc Raiders subreddit.

ARC Raiders’ Most Popular Blast Gets Shocked

Embark continues to standardize PvP combat in ARC Raiders, ensuring more sensors are on the way.

Embark also says it only uses Denuvo for its anti-cheat features:

We will not use Denuvo’s Digital Rights Management (DRM) service, and we are working to ensure minimal impact on performance.

They confirm that with the combination of Denuvo Anti-Cheat and Anybrain, they are “working to strengthen the ARC Raiders systems even more.” Despite that assurance, people are naturally nervous about whether or not this will break their game. As long as they don’t cheat, of course.
