ARC Raiders Storm Map Status Affects Casts and Visibility

Embark Studios continues to add new and exciting challenges to ARC Raiders, and now they’re sending out a severe weather warning. The Overcast Sky update arrives on February 24, introducing a new enemy and storm map mode that will affect physics in a big way.
An ARC Raiders PvE-Only Mode Is Impossible, And That Would Be For The Best
Embark Studios has fine-tuned its approach, and we’re starting to see the results.
The ARC Raiders team shared a teaser video earlier today, showing strong high-speed winds, flying debris damaging your shield, and low visibility—but there are ways to not only survive a storm, but thrive in it.
ARC Raiders Hurricane will affect the trajectory of the bombs
As the storm approached, Embark kindly provided a detailed weather report, giving the Raiders a chance to prepare for the dangerous road ahead. Players brave enough to surface during the storm map will face three main threats: wind, debris, and low visibility.
The wind will slow you down and drain your energy if you fight it, but if you have a tailwind, you will speed up, and jumping will also be affected.
Objects that are thrown like bombs will behave differently, meaning attackers may be able to throw bombs farther than before.
Do you want to hide your position with a smoke bomb? That can be a problem, as smoke and gas can be blown away.
Getting hit by flying debris will not only degrade your shield, it will also cause it to crack and spark, revealing your location to nearby attackers. This will force players to consider removing their shield in certain situations where stealth is more important.
As you would expect during a storm, visibility will be very low. Embark said, “The sky has changed, and low clouds make the surface almost invisible.”
This means that flying ARCs can sneak up on you behind a veil of dark clouds, as howling winds will also affect your ability to hear the thunder of an oncoming ARC.
Fortunately, weathering the storm comes with rewards, as the extreme weather has uncovered the first valuable wave raider caches. As the ARC Raiders community continues to showcase amazing parkour and wacky tech, it will be interesting to see how players interact with the atmosphere.
