GENESIS X3 it was really hard Super Smash Bros. Melee Losers Bracket on Saturday, February 14, as some of the best players in the world battle to be in the Top 8 on Sunday, February 15.
After a day full of tantrums and surprises, Justin’Wizzrobe‘Hallett, Jake’Jmook‘ DiRado, Alvaro ‘ Trif ‘ Moral, Miles ‘Immediately‘Foster, Alexandra’Salt‘Rennie, Joshua’Joshman‘Lyras, Kyle’Crude‘again Cody Schwab they entered the Top 8.
GENESIS X3 Top 64 Sees The Best Players In World Wrestling
The Top 64 was full of the usual suspects but the bracket didn’t turn out as fans expected as the day progressed. Zain Naghmi, Cody Schwab and Juan’Hungrybox‘ DeBiedma is three of the best players in the world, but they all came to Losers – and only one of them can get out.
Cody Schwab faced Pikachu main Dan ‘Swift’ Petruso in Winners Round 1, which saw the world’s best Fox lose 3-1. He fell to the side of the Losers.
Zain was already showing signs of weakness early in the Top 64. The Smash community could be heard everywhere screaming that ‘RapMonster,’ Luigi ranked #28 in the world, ended up getting wild GOAT combos. Zain ended up losing 3-1, which sent them to the Losers early.
Hungrybox looked strong as the Top 64 began. He beat Riley ‘Zasa’ Matson 3-0 to beat Salt 3-1. However, he fell to Soonsay after a very close match 3-2.
At this point, the top players were all Losers and would have to fight their way out if they wanted to get into the Top 8. To make it even more intense, only. one they will be able to achieve it. The way the brackets were broken down in Losers, Cody Schwab and Zain ended up facing each other – and the winner will have to face Hungrybox to see who will return to the Top 8.
Cody and Zain had a back-and-forth, but Zain eventually made it out in the 17th place after losing to Cody. Seeing the best player in the world fall to the Losers and get scraped was a huge shock to the Melee community.
Cody Schwab then took on Hungrybox for a shot at the Top 8. Cody’s Fox has proven to be a trick on Hungrybox in the past, but it was a toss up between the two going into the match.
However, the Jigglypuff main had no head in the game. As the screaming fans cheered him on, Hungrybox continued to make some pretty questionable mistakes against Cody, at times even losing two stocks. After going out to Losers, Hungrybox had tweeted that he had ‘thrown away’ the chance to win GENESIS, even though he had a big comeback in the past. But it was clear that he was out of the game, he lost 0-3.
“Having a tough weekend overall,” Hungrybox tweeted after the loss. “The game is difficult otherwise it wouldn’t be special. I don’t know who to blame.”
GENESIS X3 Melee Top 8 Schedule
Top 8 Super Smash Bros. Melee is scheduled to be after Ultimate (which will have an exciting Top 8 tomorrow). Tune in at 5:30 PM PST to GENESIS’ Twitch stream to catch the action.

- A: Wizzrobe vs. Jmook
- B: Trif vs. Soonsay
- F: Salt vs. Joshman
- G: Krudo vs. Cody Schwab
If the Top 64 proved anything, it’s that it’s hard to predict what will happen in GENESIS X3. Wizzrobe and Jmook will be very close, although Wizzy is currently ranked higher in SSBRank – although not by much. Trif and Soonsay are also predicted to be very close.
On the losing side, Joshman will probably win against Salt. While Salt has been a lot of fun to watch due to the aggressive and fast performances of Captain Falcon, Joshman is currently #4 in the world, which has been shown throughout the weekend so far. Cody Schwab has also been playing undercover and will likely win against Krudo. He will probably beat Joshman again, although it is a very close match.
It’s a safe bet that Cody Schwab will win every tournament. However, anything can happen to a Major like this.
