The Europe MENA League is one of five regional leagues on the R6 esports circuit, where top teams from Europe, the Middle East and North Africa compete to earn Global Points and qualify for future majors. The league also serves as a gateway to the crowning event of the season, the Six Invitational (SI), for the top performing teams.

“We are pleased to announce that Geekay Esports is returning to the R6 Europe MENA League as the BLAST R6 Esports 2026 team,” Geekay Esports posted on X (Twitter). “After a successful 2025 season in Europe’s 2nd division we are excited to prove ourselves in the big league.”

Geekay Esports’ last appearance in the Europe MENA League was in the 2025 Challenger Series, which took place from April 10 to May 4. At that time, the organization placed sixth and failed to reach the European MENA League in 2025.

Geekay Esports historically competed in the MENA League from 2023 until the end of 2024. However, Ubisoft has merged the league with Europe for the 2025 season as part of its efforts to streamline the ecosystem from nine to four regions.

In 2025, Geekay Esports won many Tier-2 events. It placed first in Saudi League 2025 Major 2 after defeating Twisted Minds 3-2 in the Grand Finals, won 3-0 against Team Secret in R6 Central Combine 2025, and won the R6 North Rainbow Rumble 2025 title last August.

In an online post, Kishan Deepak Palija, CEO of Geekay Esportshe said: “Like I said, 2026 is a big year. After our success in Rocket League, Overwatch, PUBG, Fortnite, EA FC and Honor of Kings, we are now ready to handle R6.”

Geekay Esports will face stiff competition in the Europe MENA League, with top teams such as SI 2025 running Team BDS, and SI 2019 and 2023 champions G2 Esports.

After the conclusion of SI 2026, which saw FaZe Clan defeat Team Secret to become back-to-back champions, the R6 esports scene is gearing up for another year of competition.

R6 developer Ubisoft and tournament organizer BLAST have extended their partnership until the end of the 2028/2029 season. Additionally, the R6 Majors will take place in the US and Japan, while Brazil will be the host country for SI 2027.

In addition, the 2026/2027 season will see China become the new regional league for R6 sports, standing alongside Europe MENA, North America, South America, and Asia Pacific.

The full 2026/2027 roadmap was also revealed by Ubisoft last December, with the Kickoff Season starting in April 2026 and ending in SI 2027 next February.
