“I’m a big hater”: Khabib Nurmagomedov shares thoughts on sports and games

During the interview, Nurmagomedov spoke about the dangers of young people who decide to spend a large part of their lives playing sports and competing in sports competitions. He argues that few players reach the level that pays, while others invest the same amount of time without achieving success.

Khabib Nurmagomedov also compared sports and sports to physical training environments that encourage socialization and structure, saying that traditional sports settings offer greater opportunities for development.

“In the gym, you meet people,” said the undefeated fighter. “This is socialization. But if you always play computer games, your mind changes. Even if you don’t become a UFC champion, at least you know people. But computer games, I really hate.”

Bölükbaşı is one of the few sim racing drivers who can successfully transition into the motor-world world. In 2020, he won the award Formula Renault Esport Seriesbeating lovers of Franco Colapinto again Isack Hadjarwho have continued to compete The First Formula.

“It doesn’t matter to many people anymore,” replied Bölükbaşı. “You have four or five teammates you see every day. You play together, next to each other. It’s not online anymore.”

In May 2025, the German car manufacturer Porsche has opened a dedicated center which enables its sim racing factory team to practice and train in a professional environment.

Sim Racing as a way to Real-World Motorsport

Although Nurmagomedov and Bölükbaşı shared opposing views on the impact of sports and games, sim racing remains a discipline where real drivers can transfer their skills to the real world.

On February 5, Team Redline driver James Baldwin joined Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 TeamA simulation program, where he will lend his skills to provide feedback to engineers working on a real-world F1 team car.

Elsewhere, four-time F1 world champion Max Verstappen continues to support sim racers who transfer to real motorsport with his racing team. Verstappen.com Racing takes part in the GT World Challenge Europe Series, with a British sim racer Chris Lulham competing as one of the team’s three drivers.
