Sana hires CFO; Aptevo Names New CEO; The founder of Violett leaves; and more – GeekWire
– Brian Pipera longtime biotech leader, is the Seattle-based new CFO Sana Biotechnology.
Piper was previously CFO at Antares Therapeutics, Scorpion Therapeutics, and Prelude Therapeutics.
Piper was also offered the position of vice president at Sana, a cell and genetics company that went public in 2021.
“We have a noticeable boost in our type 1 diabetes as well with vivo CAR T’s programs, and his leadership, will be critical as we continue to develop our portfolio, develop long-term value creation, and work to bring these transformative therapies to patients,” Sana CEO Steve Harr said in a press release.
– Marvin White is stepping down as CEO of Aptevo Therapeutics in April after leading the Seattle biotech company since 2016, following its exit from Emergent BioSolutions. Jeff Lamothethe company’s COO and long-time manager, will be the new CEO. White will remain chairman of the executive committee.
– Scott Kushino was named CEO in Violetta Seattle-based startup that sells air purification technology. Kushino has been mentoring Violett and is still a technology leader in the Seattle area. Founder of Violett Brandon Doyle joined Seattle startup Phaidra in a senior account role. Violett also added Mark Stevens as vice president of sales and Ryan Palmer as part of the CTO.
– Rohil Bhansali has been promoted to head of engineering at Adora, a Seattle-based marketing startup. Bhansali is a founding engineer and previously spent six years at Pinterest.
– Ted Plumis joined the start of New York Or Security leading go-to-market partnerships. Plumis is a Seattle-area sales veterinarian who previously served as senior vice president at Exabeam and vice president at Imperva.
– Mark Tranter he joined Clark Nuber PS as chief revenue officer. Tranter is an angel investor in Seattle and co-founded CFO Selections, an executive search and interim consulting service provider.
– Teresa Thomas started a new role in Zillow The group as product manager, agent AI and experience. Thomas joined Zillow in 2019 and has held various management positions.
— Mike Richformer VP at Panopto and comScore, named head of partnerships at Seattle startup Iodine. Rich was most recently an executive director at Signifyd. Yoodli is also hiring Ryan Hartlageformer executive director at PitchBook, as SMB sales leader.
– Greg Smith joined the start of the Seattle area Scala as global head of growth and GTM. Smith was a group vice president at Transcarent and senior marketing manager at GE Healthcare Digital and Premera Blue Cross. Scala recently announced an $8.5 million seed round.
– Aaron Stacy he joined Placement.io as a senior business sales director. Stacy previously worked at Amazon and Microsoft.
– Conrad Pastore he was named Seattle’s first immigration chief Casium. Pastor was previously a senior media specialist at another Seattle-based migration startup, Boundless.
