10 Best Game Episodes of 2020 (So Far)

We’re only halfway through the decade, but the 2020s have already seen many amazing releases being released. That trend shows no signs of slowing down, as we have The Ocarina of Time remake is coming in the fall of 2026 and the last part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy you can expect.
Meanwhile, horror players like myself have been having a good year at this rate A fan-favorite horror remakeand those remakes stay true to the original content while improving upon it. With so many to choose from, it can be hard to decide on the next remake you want to play with.

Paper Mario: The Millennium Door
It’s Made of Paper, but This Game Doesn’t Fall
Originally released in 2004, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door received a remake that was released in 2024. The game combines familiar platforming from the classic Mario games with many RPG elements and turn-based combat, often leading to it being considered a JRPG.
The remake took an already great game, kept what players loved, and made it even better. While image updates are the most obvious improvement, if you listen, you’ll find that the soundtrack has also been redone. This overhaul is a labor of love by developers who understand what a game needs to change and what it needs to stay the same.

Routes in the Sky 1st Chapter
Cozy JRPG Remake to Launch the Series
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter isn’t always considered the best of the series, but this remake is a fun adventure in a cozy world that’s perfect for someone looking to get into JRPGs as a genre, or just getting into the Trails series. Also, the second chapter is scheduled for release next year, so there’s a lot of content to look forward to.
Depending on what you like in a story, Trails games tend to be easily when he informs you about the mattersince you don’t get a lot of pure explanation about the whole plot, it can be boring to go through.

Dead Space
A Renewed Beginning of Isaac’s Wicked Journey
It seems that Dead Space took cues from Resident Evil when it remade the first game in its trilogy, as a remake. it keeps the core of the original Dead Space intact while rebuilding the entire game similar to what it would have been like if it had been created in the 2020s in the first place. I think this is the most reliable way to deal with remakes, because remasters tend to retain blur.
One change that seems small until you encounter it in the game is this loading screens between Ishimura sites no longer exist and it’s replaced with a quick stutter when moving between areas that it used to have, depending on your system and settings. These small changes help make Dead Space feel like something new even if you’ve played the original.
Solid (Snake) Remake
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eter is a a remake of the third MGS game. While the original holds up well, the remake allows you to enjoy the game with better graphics and controls, which generally don’t age well in play. The general feeling about this remake is that the developers played it safe, especially without Kojima being involved in the creation this time around.
However, MGS3 is a classic game that was an unforgettable experience for many gamers when it was released, so playing it safe helped make this remake great because it still has that nostalgic feel. I’d like to upload a few screenshots, though.

Fatal Frame 2: The Crimson Butterfly Remake
Fix Your Cameras
One of my personal favorite games, the remake of Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, came as a pleasant surprise this decade. Every aspect of this game has been improved in the remake, and there are equals new conclusions which you can get with New Game Plus, which adds a new experience to the action.
Fatal Frame is a series that hasn’t received much new content in recent years that has brought as much excitement as the Crimson Butterfly remake. So, I hope the success of this remake is the start of a revival for the series as a whole.

Persona 3 Reload
Where Man Finds Himself
By the third game, Persona 3 had found its place in the JRPG genre, meaning that it combined those elements with elements of social role-playing and an upcoming story. The combination of these genres makes Persona a series of games that you can play for hundreds of hours each.
Persona 3 Reload is a great remake in every respect except one, and that’s the verdict what a choice for a female character. This is the only Persona that even offers a female option, and the remake not including that feels disrespectful to the original.

Resident Evil 4
Leon Has a Good Ten Years
Resident Evil 4 is the game where Capcom changed the series to include more action, which may be part of the reason why the subsequent games received criticism. Still, RE4 did a good job of balancing action and horror, and the remake refined that combination while retaining Leon’s unique humor.
It’s a remake it kept what players loved about the first one and improved the dislikes, such as Ashley being more useful and less difficult to keep alive. While it’s a great experience for players past the original, the RE4 remake is also great for anyone who might want to try an RE title for the first time.

Super Mario RPG
Perfect Starter JRPG
For decades, Super Mario RPG felt forgotten. Nintendo would make other JRPGs in the Mario space with the Paper Mario games, but Super Mario RPG was different, possibly due to Square Enix’s involvement in creating the original game. It’s a short JRPG, but that makes it perfect for quick play when you might not want to commit to a long game.
Super Mario RPG is perfect for new JRPG players, as it has the main features that define the genre, such as reaction-based combat, but takes place in one of the game’s most well-known universes, giving it a sense of familiarity. This fun, light-hearted remake of the game is a great choice for any gamer.

Silent Hill 2
Konami Accumulates Success In This Decade
Silent Hill 2 is a fan-favorite game, and the Bloober Team delivered on the remake they were entrusted with. Like the Fatal Frame remake, SH2 also got new endings that you get in the remake that weren’t part of the original. The heart of SH2 is still therebut the characters are wrapped up and developed to have more depth in ways that make the already emotional story even more punchy.
Not only that SH2 is one of the best remakes of this decade, too important achievement. Silent Hill had been dead since the cancellation of Silent Hills and Kojima leaving Konami, and the remake of SH2 gave the company a significant win that was then compounded by the success of Silent Hill f.

Final dream 7
Turn One Game into Three
Final Fantasy 7 Remake exceeded expectations for a remake. Instead of polishing the graphics and all that, Square Enix decided to rebuild FF7 from the ground up in a way that makes it feel great again. somewhere between reimagining and sequencing in the first game.
The scale of the FF7 remake is astoundingand it feels fresh while making you question if you really know what’s going to happen next given the changes made to the story. Even if you don’t like remakes, you have to admit that FF7R brings a whole new level to what it could be.
We are in an era where remakes are popular and done well enough to satisfy new players and fans of the original game. While I understand that there may be fatigue with so many re-releases and announcements, I hope the trend continues so that more games are available to play with a modern polish.
