Since the world is so big, it also means that there are many secrets hidden within it. Some of these secrets you may not find during your first playthrough. Others, you may not find during your second playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3.

You can easily spend over 100 hours on Baldur’s Gate 3 and discover new mechanics, NPCs, items, and more. Don’t stop looking because you don’t know what you’ll find.

You Can’t Throw Away a Book

The Necromancy of Thay is a rare book that you can find in a hidden room in the basement of the Blighted Village in the first act. This book has a few interesting interactions that you might not know about.

First, you can’t destroy a book unless you hit it with radiant damage. If you destroy it, shadow enemies will appear and attack you. Normally, you can use the Black Amethyst to open it, but if you try to use the Knock spell, it will cast a hostile shadow instead.

In the end, you can’t throw a book in a hole. Doing this will cause it to fly back to you, almost as if the game is telling you that you need to keep it close.

Multishot Guiding Bolt

Gontr Mael Bow Collaboration

There is a very strong connection with Gontr Mael bow at Baldur’s Gate 3. This legendary bow is obtained by defeating the Steel Watcher Titan in the control center, but the secret lies in its ability called Promised Victory.

This ability allows arrows fired from Gontr Mael to apply a Guiding Bolt to the enemies they hit. This is already very powerful, but many don’t realize that you can take this a step further by using multi-shot arrows.

Most projectiles split up when they hit the target, allowing them to hit multiple targets. This means you can use Guiding Bolt on multiple enemies at once. This will give you and your allies an advantage against multiple enemies and not just one.

In the first act of Baldur’s Gate 3, you can visit the Underdark. In the Underdark, you can make your way up to the Arcane Tower. Here, there are various secrets, but each of them is very easy to see. There is, however, something you may have overlooked. You may or may not have seen it.

This secret is the Portrait of Marcus Miles, one of the characters in Divinity: Original Sin 2, and depending on which version of Baldur’s Gate 3 you have, you may not be able to see it.

The picture above is of one of the beds on the top floor of the Arcane Tower. If you have the deluxe edition of Baldur’s Gate 3, an image will appear. Otherwise, you won’t be able to get portrait orientation. Another image can be found later in the game, and it shows Sebille, another main character from Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Make New Friends

There’s a weird way you can get any enemy to join your party. To do this, you must have Polymorph again Rule the Beast spells. Throw Polymorph at the enemy, turning them into sheep.

After this, cast a Dominate Beast spell on the sheep to get it as a temporary ally. It is important to note that the character using Dominate Beast cannot be your own created character and must be a friend.

Return to the camp, and talk to your shepherd friend to stay in the camp. After this, ask them to join you in the fight again. Doing this causes a rare interaction where the sheep will return to their original state, allowing you to control any enemy that was before it was polymorphed.

Hobo Killing Ends

A Very Powerful Spell

There is a secret cutscene you can find during the epilogue of Baldur’s Gate 3 featuring Winter. You meet Withers in a dungeon during the first act of the game, and it serves as a way to revive your killed characters or change your class.

When you get to the end of the game, when you decide you’ve had enough of your allies and decide to kill one of them, Withers will step in and stop you. You will then start a cutscene where he opens a portal and throws you into it.

It is unknown where the portal leads, but it shows that Withers could end your run at any time and choose not to. Only after killing a friend at the end of the game will he care enough to make you disappear.

Outside Aunt Ethel’s house

Aunt Ethel is a major threat in the first act of Baldur’s Gate 3, and you will eventually travel to the swamp to confront her. Near his house, you can find a well, and drinking from it can make you sick.

The secret does not come from drinking from the well once. No, the secret is given to those who dare to drink from the well a second time. If you drink from the well once, you will get 10 temporary points. Unfortunately, the next day you will suffer from nausea.

If you dare to drink from the fountain a second time, knowing the full effects of the previous swig, you will be given the sick condition, which makes you vulnerable to all damage.

Find Both Aunt Ethel Buffs

Could it be that he saw Aunt Ethel and defeated her. When you fight Aunt Ethel, there are usually two results. The first is to accept his death wish, take his hair, and get a permanent buff. Another thing is that you kill him and get the loot.

Well, you might not know that there is actually a way to get both the buff and his loot. All you have to do is confront Aunt Ethel at her house. While he’s distracted, have someone sneak into the secret passage and use it Arcane Lock Scroll at the door.

This will prevent Aunt Ethel from going anywhere. A fight will ensue, but that’s what you want. Fight Aunt Ethel, but keep non-lethal damage on. Take him out, grab his loot, and leave. Rest for a long time, and when you come back, you will be able to fight him again in his lair to get a buff.

Develop Your Faith Guardian

Keeper of the Faith excellent spelling. It protects you and your allies, and can deal some damage to enemies. The biggest downside of this spell is that the summoned guardian is immobile, meaning it cannot move around the battlefield, but there is a way to fix that.

Minthara has a skill called Soul Branding that lasts three times. This ability gives the target extra fire damage on their next melee attack, but more importantly, it gives the target five feet of movement speed.

When used on Guardian of Faith, the ability grants it movement, allowing it to traverse the battlefield. If you want to make it even better, you can use Hurry up spell it to go faster.

The key is Go

No One Enters

In the last part of the game, you will find yourself in Wyrm’s Rock Fortress. The lower part of this castle is a prison, and when you get down there, you’ll find a Dwarf guard sleeping after eating a heavy lunch.

Usually, you will wake him up, talk to him, and get him to open the door, or put him in a pocket and open the door. However, there is a funny connection that you probably never knew existed. If you take him out of the pocket, then open the door, but continue to wake him up, he will panic.

He started panicking because the key “took a trip.” He will then say that no one can enter the prison until the next shift, and panic as he realizes that he is about to follow. A funny interaction that is often overlooked.

Cloud of Death

Dead bodies are useful

There’s a way you can get super powerful once you hit the third act in Baldur’s Gate 3, and it all has to do with the corpse of an NPC named Ellswort. First, go to Baldur’s Gate Cemetery. Here, you will find an open grave with Ellswort’s corpse in it.

If you loot this body, it will release an AOE poison cloud, dealing damage around it, but you can’t pick up the body. Take the body to put it in your inventory. Once the body is in your inventory, you can press the “loot” option to release the poison cloud.

If you pretend to be a monk, and reach level 10, you get Purity of Body. This will give you immunity to the poison. You can now move around, loot the body, and unleash toxic AOEs to damage enemies. The best part is that it doesn’t consume your action.
