How to Catch Fish in Seikyu Legends

Like many other titles in the life sim genre, Tales of Seikyu is a humble and charming adventure that introduces the player to various things to do while settling in a farmhouse on Seikyu Island. While getting to know your fellow Yokais is part of the journey, as well as rediscovering your true nature as a fox spirit, there are plenty of daily activities to get used to.
Seikyu Legends: How to Unlock All Yokai Forms
Be a fox or a crow! Or…slime?
One such activity that you must protect immediately after your first arrival is fishing, and thankfully you can do it literally on your first day as a Seikyuian. If you’re not sure where to start, here’s how to unlock fishing in Tales of Seikyu, as well as how fishing works, and all the fish you can catch in the game.
How to Unlock Fishing in Seikyu Legends
Fishing is an early unlockable skill in Tales of Seikyu. To do so, you’ll need to visit Torleone, the local retailer and go-to retailer for all things fishing. Talk to him, and he’ll give you a Basic Rod to get your feet wet.
With that in hand, fishing is now automatically available for you to do in any available body of water around the island, be it the sea or local lakes and rivers.
When you are done making the Big Boss Fishing Heart Event with Torleonyou will also unlock the ability to ride boats around the island to reach more fishing spots easily. To do this, talk to his nephew Seabert where he is in a small building in the docks area, and you will find the option of renting a boat.
How to Fish in Seikyu Legends
Fishing is a straightforward process in Tales of Seikyu, with a few steps to remember every time you cast your line.
Approach the waters you want to fish, and make sure your fishing rod of choice is fitted (it will be on the top wheel, with your weapons and other collection tools like your pickaxe). Be aware that certain water sources, such as the narrow stream and waterfall at your farmhouse, will not have fish to catch, and you will be prompted to try a different area. Your best bet is to check out the shadowy silhouettes of fish swimming in the water. If you see them, that means it’s a good place to settle down and catch something.
When you are ready to fish, use the appropriate button (Left mouse click or Square on the controller) to cast your line, then wait for a nearby fish to take the bait. If they do, press the buttons that appear on your screen (eg – ‘A’ and ‘D’ on the keyboard) to pull to the other side of the fish’s path and kill it.
Keep your eye on the intensity gauge in the middle of the screenand if it runs out, you’ll be able to put it back in. Make sure you do so quickly before its stamina refills, otherwise you’ll have to tire it out again. The less you have to do, the better, as each time you have to weaken the strength of your fishing rod.
Reel in your catch, and it will go straight to your inventory. You can then sell your catch through your shipping box to the farm or give it as gifts to NPCs who pick fish, such as Torleone, Miss Ama, or Musashi.
Finally, each Fishing level you unlock will reward you with various fishing-related loot, such as traps and obstacles. Use them well, as different types of bait will allow you to catch certain fish that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to, or even sunken treasure chests.
