Top 6 Best Selling Games of 2026, So Far – WGB

Let’s take a look at the classic sales data from across Xbox, PlayStation and PC, shall we? Because number 1 is a bit of a doozy.

The data comes from Alinea Analytics, a company that uses its own algorithms to predict game sales. This means the data isn’t 100% accurate, but the company tends to get pretty close, so while you should take it all with a grain of salt, a little bit should do the trick.

Leading the way with 13 million copies sold is everyone’s favorite friendlop craft game, Meccha Chameleon. That means that since we last received sales data from the developers themselves, the game has shifted another 5 million copies.

Remember, this list is based on copies sold, not revenue generated. Meccha Chameleon brought in an estimated $58 million. Not bad for a game produced on a shoestring budget and caffeine, but it means that some of the titles here have brought in a lot more money.

That’s skipping the story a bit, though. There’s been a lot of talk about the game being built in just two months by two developers in Japan, and while that’s generally true, there’s more to it than that.

Mecha Chameleon’s developers initially simulated the game within Fortnite’s UEFN, essentially giving themselves a free testbed to get an idea. From there, they built the Steam version using a bunch of assets reused from their previous projects, meaning this “two-month build” was sitting on top of years of accumulated knowledge, tools, assets, and hard graft.

Still, the main point stands: even in that context, this is a game that came together very quickly. That makes the reported $58 million in grosses quite impressive.

The rest of Alinea’s lineup is less surprising. According to Alinea Analytics, FC 26 is sitting on 9.1 million copies sold this year, with more than half of those copies apparently coming via PlayStation.

Alinea’s Rhys Elliott also makes an interesting point about the future of the franchise in the United States. As football continues to take off there, he believes the launch of FC 27 later this year could be the biggest series ever seen in the US, where football is loved, but has never been taken as nationally as it is across Europe.

Resident Evil Requiem sits at 7.6 million copies sold, making for a solid performance for Capcom’s continuing reboot into a major video game. The platform breakdown is surprising, too: 46% of sales were on PlayStation 5, 45% were on Steam, and only 9% were on Xbox. According to Alinea, this game also closes half a billion in revenue.

Forza Horizon 6 and Arc Raiders tied for next best, both sitting at 7.4 million copies sold. Alinea’s graph puts Forza Horizon 6 above Arc Raiders, although it doesn’t explain why. The most obvious difference is that Forza Horizon 6 launched this year, while Arc Raiders launched on October 30, 2025. Or maybe Rhys Elliott is sneakily trying to tell us that he prefers Forza Horizon 6?

That makes Forza’s numbers pretty impressive right away, especially since 4 million of its sales came on Xbox and 3.4 million came through Steam. It’s worth noting, however, that Elliott lists sales for Game Pass players who purchased the $59.99 Premium Upgrade Bundle, which sounds good enough, even if it’s not the same as the full copy sold.

Forza Horizon 6 Review - Tuned For Perfection

Forza Horizon 6 is headed to Japan and somehow manages to be both the best Horizon game yet and the safest Playground Games sequel ever made. Amazing new settings, amazing handling and an endless stream of content make it insanely fun to play, even if the formula is starting to show signs of getting tired. The…

Elliott predicts that Forza Horizon 6 will hit 10 million copies sold this quarter, helped by the fact that it sold another 1.4 million copies in the past two months. There’s also a planned PlayStation 5 port due later this year, which could push the game even further. Forza Horizon 5 sold 6.2 million copies on PS5 in its first 14 months, so a final figure of 15 million or more for Forza Horizon 6 doesn’t feel out of reach.

Alinia analyst Rhys Elliott also notes that, aside from Call of Duty and Minecraft, Forza Horizon is probably now the biggest IP for Xbox. Honestly, I would be inclined to agree.

Arc Raiders, on the other hand, reaching the same figure of 7.4 million is still very impressive, especially since it is doing it a few months after its launch. Less than half of those sales appear to have come in January alone, as the game continues to ramp up in the new year launch window.

However, the live service picture is a bit more complicated. Elliott notes that monthly active users have dropped significantly from a peak of 10.7 million to around 3.7 million. That sounds like a huge drop, but 3.7 million active users is still a very healthy number for a live service game nine months into its life.

Finally, we have Slay the Spire 2 at 7 million copies sold, which is especially impressive considering that it is only available on PC. According to Elliott, sales have been heavily frontloaded, with 5.3 million copies sold in March, the month of its launch. Since then, it has added another 1.7 million copies, about 270,000 of which arrived last month.

Of course, Slay the Spire 2 is still in Early Access, so its 1.0 release could finally provide another big spike. Console versions also feel inevitable, and if those arrive, this thing could be huge. Elliott predicts that he could eventually clear 15 million copies, and again, I wouldn’t argue with that. The potential is clearly there.

It goes without saying that all of these games will be blown out of the water by GTA 6 when it launches later this year, so everyone is fighting for the 2nd best selling spot. Who do you think will take the silver medal?
