New Metroid Game Reportedly Leaked In The Most Random Way Possible

When it comes to keeping upcoming big projects under wraps, it seems like I mean Nintendoa company that once managed to keep everything locked away in secret basements, has been the victim of a few leaks here and there lately.
Now, it looks like the latest leak comes directly from Zebes (or, a random place on Earth, really), which manages to slip through the cracks of a local government website, away from the watchful eyes of Japan.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time Price Reportedly Leaked (And Cheaper Than GTA 6)
Wake up, wallet.
Demystifying Bureaucracy
Just out of nowhere, a brand new, unannounced entry in the beloved sci-fi Metroid franchise has just popped up on the radar. A mysterious title, clearly written as Metroid Ravenousit was recently spotted buried deep in an official letter from Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security (Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública, in Portuguese).
While the official rating portal page was surprisingly quick to disappear from the official website where the gaming community caught on, screenshots of the original file installation have already been circulating on social media. Now, since I’m Brazilian myself, let me step in and give you a helping hand to understand exactly what was explained on that leaked page.
According to an official government regulation published on June 30, 2026, Metroid Ravenous has been assigned a category “recommended for children under the age of twelve” (which translates to a general rating of 12+). One content descriptor attached to the project is “violence,” and its official production year is clearly marked as 2026. Aside from those specific management details, the document remains tight-lipped, omitting any mention of target platforms or concrete gameplay features.
Still, despite the lack of a wider context, the public is already abuzz with endless speculation, as we are talking about an official government document here and not just a random rumor site in the gaming arena.
A brand new, unannounced sequel to the beloved sci-fi Metroid franchise has just popped up on the radar.
And, given the aggressive title, many fans strongly believe that Metroid Ravenous is shaping up to be the next 2D side-scroller in the storied franchise. This will make it a direct, long-awaited successor to the highly acclaimed Metroidvania Metroid Dread, which took the Nintendo Switch by storm back in 2021.
Of course, we still need to wait for official confirmation before we can get ahead of ourselves, but the timing of these official phase leaks sounds good. Government estimates typically occur when a project is nearing the final stages of production and preparing for its marketing cycle. Therefore, it is very possible that Nintendo is busy preparing to raise the curtain on this project during the upcoming Nintendo Direct show. With Gamescom just around the corner this August in Cologne, Germany, the industry’s summer circuit will surely be the perfect window for big reveals.
Either way, just the prospect of a brand new Metroid title coming sooner than we thought (especially since we weren’t expecting anything like this anytime soon) is incredibly exciting! I’m really excited to see how this turns out. But until Nintendo officially takes the stage to clear the air, we’ll have to wait and see if Samus’ next hunt lives up to its reputation.
