Future Soldier Online in 2026

Somehow, Palpatine returned. Sorry, force of habit. But on a more positive note, Ghost Recon: The Future Soldier is back from the grave.

Years after its untimely demise at the hands of Ubisoft’s planned shutdown, the servers of Ghost Recon: Soldiers of Tomorrow have come back to life thanks to a valiant community effort.

The revival is part of the PS3 REBORN project, which has been working hard to keep the PlayStation 3 library online via custom servers.

The Future Soldier is Dead, the Long-Term Future Soldier

Ubisoft launched Ghost Recon: Future Soldier to the world back in 2012, as a collaborative effort between Red Storm Entertainment and its offices in Paris and Bucharest.

Future Soldier was the last major Ghost Recon game to feature an adventure set in many countries, taking the player to South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe in the hope of saving weapons of mass destruction from spreading across the globe.

Ubisoft’s Treatment of Ghost Recon Is Exactly What the Company Is Struggling With

Ghost Recon was all about exploration, and ignoring it could lead to death by playing it safe.

The game focused on near-future technology and relied heavily on cover-based gameplay, eschewing the first-person perspective that defined previous entries in the franchise.

As far as servers go, Future Soldier has had a great run. Ubisoft kept the lights on from 2012 until 2021, when it briefly joined the open-world Ghost Recon: Wildlands (2017) and Breakpoint (2019).

Per PS3 REBORN contributor Lumpy-Veterinarian64 on Reddit, the Future Soldier servers had a brief revival in 2023 before going dark again that same year. Now, it looks like it’s here to stay, including full medal support, so you can finally scratch that elusive Platinum off your bucket list.

Ghost Recon Reborn: Future Soldier’s servers are easy to access, requiring only a DNS change.

Navigate to the Settings menu, and select Network Settings, Internet Connection Settings, and select Custom. Select Manual and type the following DNS: 146.190.205.197 (primary) and 1.1.1.1/8.8.8.8 (secondary).

Once that’s all set, do a network test to make sure everything is working, open Future Soldier, and ride the dynamic camo.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier was released in 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
