Street Fighter 6 won’t be getting any next gen AI content, marking FGC safe from the drop.

Nothing unites the gaming community more than hatred of AI, and that extends to niche esports scenes as well. I FGC it’s one of those scenes, we fight against any sign of AI, like in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ Season 2 trailer. Maybe the promised and fast DLC schedule didn’t leave the team in time to make its trailer, I don’t know.
Well, you won’t have to worry about that Street Fighter 6. Capcom recently shared a Q&A for investors covering its stance on productive AI. The company said it will not use any AI-generated objects within the game.
“However, we plan to actively use this technology to improve efficiency and productivity in the game development process,” reads the translation. “Therefore, we are currently looking at ways to use it in various areas, such as graphics, sound, and programming.”

Is AI Used To Make Street Fighter 6, Or Not?
The FGC initially reacted with confusion. Will there be AI elements in Capcom games or not? Well, it means that there will be no artificial AI assets in the game, such as voice lines, character designs, or the environment. But Capcom will continue to use AI in its behind-the-scenes processes to improve development.
This still got some backlash: hearing about the AI automatically made the multiplayer’s blood boil. There was an AI witch hunt last year, with gamers raging over every little background poster and piece of dialogue that seemed to be done with the help of AI. ARC Raiders recently replaced all of the AI’s voice lines with real people amid constant backstabbing and bad language.
“So ‘we won’t use AI for things people complain about on the internet like AI artists, only for things people don’t seem to care about like AI replacing programmers,'” wrote one frustrated gamer on X.
Added another: “Buzz words. That they won’t use AI for the mats but for the graphics… Which is what the mats are made of, aka, using the AI for their game. Don’t let them fool you by including words like this in their sentences.”

However, some people sided with Capcom, noting that there’s nothing wrong with using AI to code faster or render things faster, making development processes easier. Some explained that Capcom has been using artificial AI to create goods but will replace them with human-made products when they are finished.
“It’s great to use AI to eliminate the boring stuff that engineers have been putting up with for decades. It saves a lot of time if you don’t have to build some simple building blocks yourself. Imagine how long it would take to build a house if you needed to find a metal to make screws?” noted by one person.
My take? I think AI is used in the development of every single game at this point, whether the devs admit it or not. However, not all situations are scary. It sounds like Capcom isn’t planning to replace any workers with AI and instead has developers using AI for the more tedious aspects of their work so they can do more things and do them faster.
Capcom hasn’t had a lot of layoffs in the past few years, unlike many other companies in the esports industry. Yes, there are some problems with the AI, but I think we can all be relieved that Capcom is not going to destroy the games and sports industry or push the inferior AI in Street Fighter 6.
Mostly.
Street Fighter 6 Works With AI Virtual Idol
Ironically, Street Fighter 6 teamed up with Naevis 2025, an idol from South Korea created entirely with AI. He was announced as a commentator for Street Fighter 6 in June although his voice uses samples from different voice actors.
This means an entirely AI generated character you have appeared in Street Fighter 6. However, this does not mean that Capcom itself used artificial intelligence to create content. The game simply consists of pre-recorded lines from Naevis, whose voice was taken from a group of voice actors and mixed together.
It was still too close for comfort for many in the FGC, however.
