G2 HEL To Be Revived Before Game Changer Season

On April 20th, a report by Armand Luque of Sheep Esports leaked the return of G2 HEL, G2 Esports’ women’s LoL team.

G2 HEL was one of the most decorated women’s rosters until it was abruptly shut down last December. While a lack of funding was the presumed reason for the project’s demise, the news came after what was arguably the most successful G2 HEL season. In addition to finishing second in the first LoL Game Changers (LGC) tournament, G2 HEL became the first women’s team to qualify for the second division of the European Regional League.

I myself was shocked at the time, as this seemed to be a big to push back the representation of women in LoL esports. If G2 could secure the long-term support of such a successful women’s group, then who could?

Thankfully, G2 HEL seems ready for its revival, at least according to Sheep Esports sources. The newspaper reported that only two members of the previous list returned: Marta “Shiina” Garrido again Maya “Calty” Henckel. The remaining vacancies will be filled by Alice “Wiosna” Mossé, Gina “Lumi” Kircher, Isabella “Izzeri,” and coach Adam “Emtest” Emtestam. However, no official announcement has been made by G2 Esports itself.

If the leak is true, G2 HEL will be ready to compete in the upcoming 2026 LoL Game Changers cycle – a huge win for women’s sports.

“I’m incredibly excited to see G2 Hel return,” commented LGC’s former coach, Joshua “Burnt Sanctuary” Keller, in the news. “There’s been a lot of good news this year so far. We’re happy that all of SK Avarosa, Vitality Rising Bees, and G2 Hel are moving on.

“Here’s hoping other LEC orgs will join.”

T1 Loses to Dplus KIA Despite Keria Masterclass on Pyke

We are in the middle of LCK Rounds 1-2, and last week, T1 Ryu “Keria” Min-seok you may have experienced his best performance of the event so far.

On April 17, T1 faced Dplus KIA, who had eliminated them from the LCK Cup 2026 Playoffs (2-3). The rematch started with Dplus KIA winning the first game, while T1 in the evening took the points in the second game. In the third game, however, LoL fans were blessed with an incredible masterclass from Keria on Pyke.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a game like this. He’s running around killing everyone,” highlighted the LoL announcer. Marc “Caedrel” Lamont after Keria took a big early game lead for his team.

Both Caedrel and the game’s characters spent much of the first game praising the presence of Keria’s map and each of the games. But what started as a perfect match went south when Dplus KIA cleared T1 in the dragon pit and protected the Baron as the cherry on top. Keria’s early game achievements proved ineffective, as she had to watch T1’s connection get destroyed despite her 100% kill on Pyke.

“Nah, Keria, bro. I was just going out. She was frying,” Caedrel commented after the series.

Keria’s heartbreaking Pyke masterclass quickly became the subject of online chatter and memes, with many highlighting how frustrating team sports can be. It also raises the question of how valuable Pyke is compared to other bases, as even this level of performance may not translate into victory.

On the other hand, the miraculous return of Dplus KIA proves once again that in the game of LoL, almost anything is possible – even at the highest level of competition.

The streaming debate reaches new highs and lows

With fewer fans watching official broadcasts of regional LoL leagues, such as the LEC and LCS, the role of syndication in LoL esports has long been debated.

However, a video by North American sports organization, FlyQuest, has created a new storm of online discussion this week. The video touches on many good arguments but fails to explore them with the necessary depth and nuance, while promoting the latest signing of FlyQuest content creator for a few minutes.

Its sensationalist structure ultimately brought more tension, even hatred to the discourse that required thorough examination from all sides.

Interestingly, FlyQuest also modified the title of the video from “Hidden Costs of Esports Co-Broadcasting” to “Content Creators (Keepers) Saving Esports” in the publication.

Personally, I believe that syndication is a a symbolnot the origin, of many things that were going on under the not-so-shiny surface, before esports content creators became this popular. These include shaky monetization methods, lack of investment in mainstream production, and the failure of organizations to create their own player stories.

But again, it goes much deeper than this.

I think steps like this new ESL The co-broadcasting guidelines are moving in the right direction to ensure that both parties, tournament organizers and content creators, will benefit from their symbiotic relationship in the long run.

If broadcasters wish to monetize free-to-air legal broadcasts, yes, they should show full product, news coverage, product segments. If not, the product they use for their content will definitely be ruined.

“I’ve said many times that we are lucky to have Caedrel as our main English commentator for the LEC, he expands the stories and creates fun even in games that don’t have…” said the esports on air talent. Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere. “I also said that I support and understand the broadcaster who wants to show his product.”

EMEA Masters Ends Without English Broadcast

Speaking of decaying streams, i EMEA Masters 2026 Winter Grand Final it happened a few days ago. Have you watched it? Because if you wanted to, there was no official English broadcast anyway. Honestly, I couldn’t believe it when I first heard about it.

What should be a milestone for Tier 2 LoL games in our region, including 36 teams from the EMEA Regional Leagues (ERLs), did not receive an official English live broadcast for the first time since its inception in 2018. At a time when other Tier 2 LoL leagues are on the brink of extinction, this paints an amazing picture of the ecosystem.

Furthermore, LoL experts have rightly pointed out that a struggling Tier 2 environment will impact Tier 1 stability in the long run.

“We have one of the best Tier 2 systems in the world, and right now it’s rotten. There’s a lot of culture, personality, skills, story behind those players that no one will know,” argued LoL caster and content creator Georgia “Troubleinc” Paras on social media. “EMEA Masters is the pinnacle of League of Legends when it comes to player development, scouting, prospects, and stories. Right now it’s completely buried.”

But the problem goes beyond player development. It’s also about the livelihoods of production talent, marketers, and interviewers, all of whom often get their first professional experience (and their first paycheck) in Phase 2 – or at least they used to.

“This competition is meant to be an important part of our region, but in the last few years, it has been diminishing. When I started as an actor, this show was the reason I was able to quit my job and pursue sports,” highlighted independent actor Jake “Hiprain” Matthews.

Riot Announces League of Legends Reset (Finally)

To end on a positive note, let’s talk about the League of Legends Reset Riot Games announced for Apex Players.

According to the official press release, all current Master, Grandmaster, and Challenger players in NA, EUW, EUNE, BR, LAN, and TR will have their virtual level and MMR reset to Masters 0LP when Patch 26.9 launches at the start of Season 2. The developer will also adjust LP gains and LP cuts and promise A20x27 breakpoints added.

While the surprise of the midseason reset may seem overwhelming, it’s a direct response to public feedback from recent months. This year, Riot has made significant changes to the ranked experience in LoL, including the long-awaited return of the duo lane in Apex and auto-fill fixes.

However, because of this, many high-level players complain about elo inflation, which can easily be abused to reach positions that do not reflect the player’s skill level.

At the cost of a drop in match quality, Riot has now decided to restore the integrity set by the LoL standard. In addition, this decision was smart from a PR point of view, which shows that the developer is always in touch with the public’s feeling about its product and is not afraid to admit mistakes.

“I can’t believe they actually did it. Thank you,” the LoL content creator celebrated Dantes in response to Riot’s announcement.
