10 Street Fighter Fights That Need to Happen in a 2026 Movie

The upcoming Street Fighter movie is looking to capitalize on the franchise’s long-running series of film adaptations that didn’t quite hit their mark, so to speak. It’s a heavy load to carry, to say the least, and there’s a lot riding on the film to pull it off. Much of that is due to fan expectations. After all, we’ve been waiting a long time to get a Street Fighter movie that does the game justice.
The 10 best fighting games with the highest replay value
These 10 fighting games are the best that you can come back to and fight alone or against friends time and time again.
Of course, to pull out the victory, the film must give when it comes to the road of the titular fight itself. And all the fans hope to see some of the most famous fights of the game come to the silver screen in a famous fashion once and for all. If you’re just going off the cast list on IMBD, there’s a classic match number that could happen in a Street Fighter movie.
Although we have seen glimpses of upcoming and possible battles in a few trailers that have been released, there are still many battles we don’t know about that may be included in the final movie. These are some of the big ones that we hope will make it to the final stage.

Dan vs A Gentle Breeze
It’s not Street Fighter
A true joke of a character, Dan Hibiki was originally created to be the weirdest and silliest of Street Fighters. Dan is supposed to be talentless and doesn’t have any true abilities or powers, so just seeing him flattened by some sort of inanimate object or deus ex machina in the upcoming movie seems like an appropriate enough match. Maybe Dan slips on a banana peel, or the piano falls on his head.
Although I would love to see Dan get beaten up by something really harmless as it would be even funnier. Like a feather falling on his head and knocking him out might be the same, or maybe he’d be beaten by a kid. The important thing is that Dan needs to be humbled somehow in this film.

Blanka vs E. Honda
Big Boy Bouncing
The ferocious sumo E. Honda and the Brazilian wild beast Blanka seem to be going nowhere in the cast. And none of them have a rival of any kind in the upcoming film. So, why not let them go at it for a few rounds? The scene where Blanka tries to get that big sumo belly out would be a classic moment of cinema.
I’m willing to admit that I might be a little biased when it comes to this matchup, since Blanka and E.Honda are two of my favorite characters in Street Fighter 2. Still, it would make for a solid matchup and would give both characters something to do in the movie.
8
Dhalsim vs Zangief
A Classic Mismatch
In the Street Fighter game series, there are several characters that fit the bill. Dhalsim’s long reach and fire breathing moves often nullify Zangief based combat moves. It’s interesting that one of the game’s strongest characters is at a disadvantage against one of its weakest, a true encounter to say the least.
The idea that this uneven rivalry between Zangief and Dhalsim could carry over to a new Street Fighter movie is interesting to say the least. We’ve already seen in the movie trailer that Zangief will bring out some of his signature moves, but we haven’t seen how Dhalsim’s powers will be portrayed on the big screen. It may cause an even more inappropriate argument.
7
Deception vs Zangief
The Cold War
An all-American family man versus a decorated Russian wrestler seems like the most fake-patriotic match-up we could hope for in a new Street Fighter movie. Considering how they went with Guile’s character (and hair), this fight is just begging to happen. It might be like Rocky 4 when he faces Ivan Drago.
Given that the new Street Fighter movie seems to lean towards camp and the fun of it all, this fight feels like it should happen. Depending on how they play it, either one could come out victorious, although given current world events, I would think Guile will take the W in this fight.
6
Cammy vs Chun-Li
Tumor Conflict
The trailer for the new Street Fighter movie features a tight and intense tet-a-tet between Chun-Li and Cammy that will lead to a brutal fight at some point. Plus, these two are the worst in the entire Street Fighter universe. The similarity between Cammy’s cannon spike and Chun-Li’s spinning bird kick is exactly what fans of the series are looking for in the new movie.
If this fight doesn’t happen at some point in the movie, it would be a huge insult. Fans deserve to see a showdown between the two queens of the Street Fighter series. I hope the film delivers.
5
Ken vs Ryu
Hot Rivalry
Ryu and Ken’s friendship and rivalry has fueled the Street Fighter series since time immemorial. The idea that the two will not break up or face each other in the upcoming movie is completely absurd. In fact, we’ve already seen glimpses of them throwing hands in the trailers, even if the context hasn’t been revealed yet.
In a way, Ken and Ryu are always fighting, as they both push each other to become better martial artists. But in a very traditional way, they also hit each other with a living stick every time. We’ll have to see how much time they spend fighting when the film launches.
4
Ryu vs Sagat
Deep Scars
Although Sagat is not listed as a character in the new Street Fighter movie, I don’t think we will at least get a flashback to his pivotal battle with Ryu in the original Street Fighter arcade game. When Ryu defeated Sagat to become the winner of the first Street Fighter tournament, it left the Muay Thai boxer with a huge wound on his chest and a burning desire for revenge.
This is the most iconic moment in gaming history to not appear otherwise in a new movie. It’s honestly been revealed a little bit that Vega, Balrog, Cammy, and Juli all appear in the movie as part of the team Shadaloo, but we haven’t seen anything about Sagat yet. Hopefully, they’re just trying to prevent some surprises from being spoiled for moviegoers.
3
Akuma vs Ryu
Fighting Your Demons
It seems like everyone wants a piece of Ryu and Akuma is no exception to that rule. The battle between the two is basically for Ryu’s soul, with Akuma constantly trying to pressure him into giving in to his dark rage. In many ways, it is the outward manifestation of Ryu’s inner conflict of control and peace. Of course, I don’t think that Ryu’s inner mind would ever be able to beat a demon’s special attack like Akuma can.
How can Akuma be in a Street Fighter movie and not follow Ryu? It would be a complete and utter waste of character. If this fight didn’t happen in the upcoming Street Fighter movie we’d be pretty bummed about it.
2
Vega vs Chun-Li
Destroying a Good Thing
Old school fans of the Street Fighter franchise may remember the famous fight that took place between Vega and Chun-Li in the first anime movie. To say that Vega and his precious face were seriously disturbed in that altercation would be an understatement. Many people are hoping for a rematch between these two big hitters in the new live action movie.
Vega is known to be a vain, shallow character who is concerned about getting his good face beaten up in fights, which he wants to get beaten up even more. Hopefully, those character traits will show up in the new movie as well, and give people a reason to want to see Chun-Li kick her face again.
1
Chun-Li vs M. Bison
Will Justice Work?
Throughout the Street Fighter video game series, Chun-Li’s entire reason for competing was to take out M. Bison and get revenge on his late father. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is his driving motivation in the upcoming film as well. However, M. Bison is the ultimate bad boss, and Ryu is sure to be waiting in the wings if anything goes wrong. Therefore, it may not be a given that Chun-Li will win this game.
However, the fight between the two will be a historic moment if it also happens in the upcoming Street Fighter movie. If we don’t see them flinging their hands, or feet, one way or another, it would be a huge letdown. Chun-Li deserves a shot at the title.
