Pragmata: Every Hacking Mode, Counts

A big part of fighting in Pragmata is being able to get into the systems of different bot types, unlocking them and allowing you to damage them. Throughout the game, you will unlock various ways to increase your hacking skills.

Another way for your hacking to be enhanced is by Mode Chips. These chips will allow you to access different hacking methods, give your hacks special bonuses that will increase the damage you do, unlock enemies for longer, or increase the amount of heat you generate.

Let’s break down every hack mod in Pragmata, and rank them based on how helpful they are in combat.

The third hacking Mode Chip will open in Pragmata is the Hybrid Mode, and it is the first entry in the list. This Mode Chip makes it more open and the offensive firepower is equally productive when hacking exposed enemies. It also increases your damage and extends the activation time.

Although this ability seems good at first, it is not the best when compared to other Mode Chips. Slightly increases the open time of enemies, giving you more time to shoot them before they close. It also gives you attack nodes that deal damage.

Since it’s split between the two, you don’t get the full benefit of either, making your hacks deal less damage than the Strike Mode Chip. You can easily replace this mod with a mod, and it will help you more.

Pragmata Strike mode

The strike mode is pretty good, but it has one annoying feature. First, this Mode Chip turns all activated nodes into strikenodes that deal damage when hacking exposed enemies.

Shooting guns during a hack will increase the damage of the next hack. This is great, and can deal a lot of damage when you hack an enemy while they are exposed. The downside to this Mode Chip is that enemies automatically disable their weapons when you complete a hack.

This withdrawal is annoying, as it makes you dig up the enemy to reveal them again. You’re better off using the mod to keep enemies exposed longer and then using your weapons to deal more damage.

Pragmata Offense mode

The first Chip Mode you can unlock in Pragmata is Offense Mode, and it’s a great first Chip mode. Turns exposed nodes into attacking nodes whenever you hack an exposed enemy. Passing through these attacking nodes or shooting an enemy will increase the damage of the next hack.

Basically, this Mode Chip is similar to Strike Mode, but better, as it does not make the enemies automatically close their weapons after the hack. This means you can consistently hack an enemy while shooting them to deal more damage with your next hack.

Combine this with mods that keep enemies exposed for longer, and you’ll be able to deal more damage with your hacking skills, due to having more chances to hack exposed enemies.

Pragmata Boost Mode

Throughout the game, you will unlock different locations to hack. These are very useful, as they allow you to modify your hack, providing various effects on enemies such as freezing, confusing, or exposing them.

The Boost Mode Chip allows you to enhance these abilities, making them last longer or have more powerful effects. For example, you can allow a multihack node to affect multiple enemies, or a decode node to continuously increase the damage it deals to affected enemies.

The advantages of this Mode Chip cannot be reduced, as all the hacking nodes are very useful during the fight, and if you choose the right ones, you can take down the enemies effectively.

1

Heat Mode

Catching Fire

Pragmata Combust Mode

As you shoot enemies, you will notice that there is a full bar. The more you hit them, the more this bar fills up. Once full, the enemy will be overheated, covering them up, exposing them, and allowing you to deal more damage.

The Combust Mode Chip turns open nodes into incinerators when mowing down exposed enemies. Shooting guns or passing through hot spots increases the build up of the heat gauge, making it much easier to burn enemies.

This is incredibly useful when dealing with large enemies, or even large groups of enemies, as you can quickly heat up your enemies, giving you room to move and damage them.

Combining this with the multihack node or combining it with the Skirmisher mod will enhance the capabilities of this Mode Chip, making it the best one to use.
