Atari Was Confident That REPLACED Would Be Well Received

The April 2026 release calendar is packed with some of the most anticipated games of the year.

Capcom started the year strong, and they look to continue their hot streak with Pragmata. After years of anticipation, we finally get the new Tomodachi Life on April 16 for the Nintendo Switch. We also saw the release of Pokémon Champions, which, despite its launch issues, could be the cornerstone of the franchise.

Sony has announced a major production update for The Legend of Zelda movie, suggesting it may reach its 2027 release date without delay.

It’s not just the big-name developers out there with anticipated releases. Against all odds, MOUSE: PI for Employment Review exceeds the hype. There’s another indie darling releasing today: REPLACED, from Sad Cat Studios.

We liked what we saw of the game during a preview back in February. Now that the game is out, the feeling is that REPLACED is a cinematic masterpiece. Our sister site, TheGamer, said that “anyone who plays Replaced will have an enlightening experience.” Receiving good word of mouth is no surprise to game publishers, however.

There was a recurring theme during my time at the Atari booth: people kept stopping by to watch REPLACED happen. It received several awards from other media when I played the game. It was clearly the talk of the show, but Lowey wasn’t surprised by this.

Marvel’s Wolverine is the headliner, but what else does Sony have in store for 2026?

He told me that the team “has a lot of confidence that people will respond well. We’re very excited. I think it’s going to do great.”

One thing that stood out to me is that, despite the strength of the product inside the Atari booth, especially Bubsy 4D and Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch, REPLACED seems to be getting attention. Based on the early response today after the release, which echoed the positive talk from the PAX East show floor, that confidence seems well placed.
