D&D Adds Baldur’s Gate 3 Dark Invocation Style Subcategories

The time for heroes is over, as the latest gameplay document of Dungeons & Dragons offers options for evil characters, including new classes, which means that people who loved the evil path of Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3 can recreate their dark scions in tablet form.

Dungeons & Dragons players tend to be heroic characters, which is where the popular Alignment system begins. Most characters are Legal//Neutral/Good for Chaos, with the occasional fully Neutral character just for ideas.

Dungeons and Dragons Now Has Evil Subcategories and Features

ID&D The Asmodeus Warlock Player's Handbook

The “Bad Choices” demo playbook includes four new categories: Epidemic Domain for Clerics, Titan Circle for Druids, Hell Knight for Fighters, and Demoninic Sorcery for Sorcerers. Like all subclasses in the new Dungeons & Dragons 2024 rules, these can be chosen at level 3.

Plague Clerics are disease experts, while protecting themselves from their worst effects, wearing down enemies with spells that rot them from within. A gathering of Titan Druids awakens the power of ancient monsters, transforming into Kaiju-style monsters in battle. Hell Knight Fighters can tap into infernal magic to make their weapons more fearsome in combat, even stronger than hell itself. Demon Witches have chaos magic flowing through their veins, allowing them to unleash the horrors of the Pit in battle.

The new playset also features two new modes: Path of the Dark Knight and Path of the Lich, which come with their own Feat sets. Starting at fourth level, these evil archetypes can choose Powers that give them new powers. The Death Knight inherits the evil abilities of the Paladin, such as the Oathbreaker from Baldur’s Gate 3, while the Lich begins the process of extracting their soul and becoming a master of immortal magic.

It is worth noting that not all teams allow the use of evil characters, as they often do horrible things that make players uncomfortable. D&D teams really need to set boundaries with bad team members, to make sure the game stays fun for everyone.
