florescent has been cleared from VCT, but fans question Riot’s inconsistent standards

In May 2025, VALORANT Game Changers star and performer of VCT Ava “florescent” Eugene was accused of sexually harassing X (Twitter) user (account now deleted) on behalf of a girl named “Brick.” This was followed by Flor’s first Shopify Rebellion Gold His colleagues said his behavior was “bad,” saying they believed the victim.
Fast forward to March 2026 and Riot Games has cleared the Canadian VALORANT player of any violations of the Esports Global Code of Conduct.
“This was a personal matter, and insufficient evidence was found,” the publisher said when announcing his eligibility to participate in Riot-sanctioned events.

Just like when Riot gave their first statement about the allegations against florescent, the community is still divided and questions have come up again. What about the statements of Shopify Rebellion players, some asked, when Jay “sinatraa” Won’The word s came up again.
We are not blaming anyone or taking sides, but one thing is certain: the world of sports is cruel, and one incident can derail the entire career.
Florescent’s Big Break Turns into a Disaster
florescent first appeared in Game changers district with Misfits Black and soon caught the attention of the world public with his devastating performances in the role of the list of brothers. He was later signed by Version1, which was later acquired by Shopify Rebellion, and became a force to be reckoned with as he led his team forward while making outstanding players.
The duelist also won back-to-back Game Changers Championships in 2023 and 2024, earning MVP honors both times.

In 2025, florescent made history when it was signed by ApeksBe the first Game Changer to enter VCT. This marked a big step forward in the dream of all members of the marginalized gender community.
Even though Apeks didn’t win a single match, the duelist showed his full potential with crazy catches and fearless play. However, competitive burnout caught up with him, and he announced a break from the entire VCT 2025 season.
What was supposed to be a holiday of rest and recovery turned into a nightmare for the Canadian player, as allegations of sexual abuse surfaced.
florescent has denied all accusations, and the issue quickly caught the attention of the public and the Conflict Games.
Riot’s Inconsistent Standards or Change Methodology?
On May 20, 2025, Riot Games issued its first statement regarding the matter and launched a legal investigation. The publisher, however, did not mention florescent by name, and did not enforce the suspension.
Discussions quickly arose about Sinatra’s case, with the public questioning why the principle of “innocent until proven guilty” was not applied in his case.
“No mention of your investigation? No suspension of Riot tournaments? No mention of his name? (If it’s for legal reasons, say it – like every other issue in the world). The soft power you have with your statements and words should be understood at Riot,” said former esports reporter George Geddes at the time.
“So Sinatraa is accused of the same things then and as soon as the investigation starts he is banned from participating, but for some reason now ‘we’ll see if they’re still eligible to play again,'” one user said last year.
Some called that approach too harsh at the time, which ended up keeping Sinatra from returning to VCT for whatever reason.
When Riot Games issued its final decision in the florescent case, the community once again compared it to sinatraa.
Furthermore, no explanation has been given regarding the statements made by Shopify Rebellion shortly after the allegations surfaced.
“I remember that almost the entire Shopify Rebellion team sided with him in that whole situation, and now this issue is off the table?” user commented on X.
In short, the concession did not silence the public, but removed the conflict.
If the flowers leave the VCT, the scene can suffer
One thing is clear: public opinion can change quickly. Some are charged despite the general rule of “innocent until proven guilty,” while others appear to be receiving different treatment.
In the chaos that follows, the accused players not only lose their peace of mind and sanity, but a single incident can affect their entire career. This makes the inclusion of a psychologist very important for every esports group, especially considering that the majority of fans consist of immature youth and adults.
Florescent has so far only indirectly reacted to the decision with a happy emoji; however, the damage it may have had on his mental health is evident in his reluctance to even discuss a possible return to competitive VALORANT when we reach out.
That being said, he was spotted participating in the FunhaverGG: 2026 WILD//WEST Qualifiers with a group of canezerra n friends.
The duelist has already shown what he knows and continues to stream on Twitch; however, it remains uncertain when or if we will see him return to the Tier 1 stage.
With the recently announced changes for VCT 2027, several teams are likely to reach florescent tryouts. However, if he chooses not to go, the ecosystem will not only lose another star… It may also delay the long-term vision of seeing gender discrimination and men competing together without limits.
