Resident Evil Requiem is heralded as one of the best titles in the Resident Evil series. This is mainly due to its amazing combination of survivability when playing as Grace and good gunplay when playing as Leon.

Plant Monsters
Burn them
If you played Leon’s first game, Resident Evil 2, then you are probably familiar with Plant 43. This bioweapon appears at the end of the second title, and you have the task of destroying it by creating a chemical solution.
Running into the monsters of Plant 43 and in Resident Evil Requiem quickly brought us back to the second title in the series. At that time, we had a flamethrower and we could burn them. Now, we have to turn to shooting the plants until they retreat. Either way, it’s satisfying to see their return, and even more satisfying to see them burn at the end of the Plant 43 boss battle.

Jill’s Baret
He has gone too far
We played the first Resident Evil game, and as bad as the tank controls were, it’s something we’ll never forget. The show gave us some of our favorite characters in the series, one of them being Jill Valentine.
Jill later made a comeback in Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 5, and Revelation. Unfortunately, he doesn’t appear in Resident Evil Requiem, but you can find his beret while exploring the police department. If you go to the STARS office, you can find Jill’s beret sitting on her desk. Seeing it also brought back all the memories of playing his old games and fighting him in Resident Evil 5.

Barry’s Games
Jill Sandwich
Another clueless character in the Resident Evil series is old Barry Burton. Barry may have appeared or been mentioned in many Resident Evil titles, with his most memorable games being Resident Evil and Resident Evil Revelations 2.
In Resident Evil Requiem, Barry is not seen, but is mentioned in the scavenger hunt. When you enter the STARS office in the police department, you can find a note from Barry, and it reminds us of the notes he left in previous games. This whole scavenger hunt is one big nostalgia fest, with previous characters mentioned and Rebecca’s photo making an appearance.

Leon Fighting Zeno
The return of Wesker
A bit into Resident Evil Requiem, we see Zeno using his powers, and they look very familiar. He quickly dodges bullets and effortlessly handles Leon. Let’s face it, Zeno is super powerful, and is compared to only one other character in Resident Evil: Wesker.
Before we got to see the fight between the two, Zeno immediately brought back the feeling of seeing Wesker in Resident Evil 5, but the fight scenes really took that longing for Chris and Wesker going. Honestly, it would have been nice to have a boss fight with Zeno, but we’ll settle for taking out Gideon and Mr. X.

The Lickers are coming back
Bring us back to Citizen Evil 2
This is our wish for Resident Evil 2, as Lickers made their first appearance in the game. We didn’t think we’d see the Lickers again, but they made their first appearance in the Ark at the end of Requiem, and it brought back the fear of sneaking around the police station.
While playing as Grace, it perfectly captures the feeling of seeing them for the first time in Resident Evil 2, but it’s even better when you play as Leon. When Leon sees the Lickers, he knows how to handle them, and while the reunion isn’t fun, it feels so much better to be able to take them down quickly with your arsenal of weapons.

Fighting Mr. X
Pure Nostalgia
Mr. X is one of the staples of Resident Evil 2, and perhaps the series as a whole. For many, when they think of Resident Evil, they remember dealing with Mr. X as they pass the police station. Although we know that it is not like Mr. X just like in Resident Evil 2, seeing the tyrant’s return in Requiem brought back memories.
Escaping from the police station with this stalking stalker triggered feelings of constant desire. After that, the fight against the tyrant gave us goosebumps, especially when Leon said some of his classic one-liners. This moment will stay in our minds for a while.

Kendo Gun Shop
A Very Sad Moment
Gun Shop Kendo is one of the saddest moments in all of Resident Evil, and it’s also a flashback. This throwback to both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 is one that fans will never forget, and it quickly brought us back to those moments when the games knew how to rip and tear at your emotions.
Even Leon takes a moment to remember. When you arrive at the shop, you are greeted with a scene of Leon reminiscing about that night all those years ago, and how the owner’s daughter was taken in. All that remains now are the remains of those who were lost that night. Although sad, it was good to remember those times when video games had a big impact.

Opening the Gate
Welcome Home, Leon
Let’s take a trip down memory lane to the beginning of Resident Evil 2. After surviving a truck stop incident, Leon enters Raccoon City. As the city descends into chaos, he arrives at the police station, and immediately locks the gate behind him to prevent the zombies from entering.
All these years later, Leon returns to Raccoon City. The gate outside the police station is still locked. He goes up to the gate and opens the lock in a big change from what he did in Resident Evil 2. He’s no longer a rookie cop, and he’s ready to face his own back. No moment felt more impactful for Leon in Requiem than this.
