Wolfenstein 3 is reportedly in production as Microsoft looks to invest in MachineGames – WGB

Rejoice, friends, because everyone’s favorite Nazi-killing maniac BJ Blazkowicz will likely be returning for a third Wolfenstein game designed to launch alongside a reported TV show.
Jez Corden of Windows Central has published a new report discussing the leadership changes at MachineGames and Arkane. We will discuss those details towards the end of the article, as the details are a bit shaky. But the most interesting is this: “Microsoft is investing in MachineGames following the success of Indiana Jones, but also on the basis of the popularity of the Wolfenstein franchise.”
Jez goes on to say that “Wolfenstein 3 is in production” according to his sources, “with the goal of a TV show and a game to compliment the style of Fallout TV.”
The important thing here is that this does not come out of nowhere. MachineGames has already said that it considers its modern Wolfenstein saga a trilogy and still has a story to tell, and earlier this year Windows Central and Kotaku reported that Wolfenstein 3 might be happening. The latest rumor is that Jez Corden is now saying the game is in production, apparently as part of a wider plan to tie it in with Amazon’s rumored Wolfenstein TV show.
Jez’s talk about Wolfenstein 3 was part of a larger report on the leadership change at Arkane. X user Timur222 saw a file for a leadership change at Arkane that went into effect on June 30. MachineGames founder and studio director Jerk Gustafsson took over as President of Arkane, replacing Leonard Bendel.
However, the story gets worse because journalist Jason Schreier jumped in to make some corrections, saying “Gustafsson actually became the studio director of Arkane in July 2025”.
Speaking on Reddit’s Gaming Leaks and Rumors page, Schreier provided more details: “Yes, today’s reporting is about some management changes that took place a few months ago and went into effect today.”
“It’s true that Jerk Gustafsson has been managing Arkane (I believe his official title is “European Studios Director”) since last summer.”
Windows Central then updated its story with a correction and said it confirmed this fact with its sources.
Arkane has been mentioned several times as one of the studios that could be at risk of being shut down as part of a major Xbox reset, which is expected to begin on Monday. Many studios are said to be facing closure, and the layoffs are likely to be severe.
Some have suggested that Arkane’s leadership change could point to a merger between MachineGames and Arkane. That is not clear yet. We can only hope that Jez Corden’s report means that MachineGames is relatively safe. Arkane’s fate is hard to come by, but we’ll probably find out in just a few days.
