8 Sony Franchises Should Renew on PS6

PlayStation is full of franchises that have helped propel it into the powerhouse it is today. Sony wouldn’t be the big company it is now if it weren’t for its old IPs that helped launch it into the stratosphere.
We all have dreams of games we’ve played that we wish would get a sequel or a remake, but it seems like they never come. Now, many people are begging game companies to revive these franchises, but not everything is green.

We want these games BACK!
Within the next few years, Sony will move on from the PlayStation 5 and introduce the next generation of the console. The launch of the PlayStation 6 is the perfect time to revive some of these shadowy IPs and give them new life.

Ape Escape
Catch the Monkeys
Ape Escape was a huge hit on the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. It was first released in 1999. The game went on to receive two sequels, and Ape Escape 3 was released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2.
As the name suggests, the franchise involves you running around and collecting various monkeys. Although it was a very simple concept, it was enough to hold the attention of many children at the time.
Now, many would like to see another great game in the series, or at the very least, Sony would go out of its way to develop a remake trilogy of the iconic franchise.

The Killzone
Previous Flagship
Killzone was a huge PlayStation franchise back in the day. The first title appeared on the PlayStation 2, then came Liberation, followed by several sequels. Between 2009 and 2013, the franchise was released four times, three of them on console and one on PS Vita.
With six titles in the franchise and one collection, it’s hard to believe that Sony would just let this IP disappear. After all, the latest game in the series, Shadow Fall, has sold over two million copies.
Apparently, the title has since been canceled by Sony, and it’s a shame, since the shooter franchise was so much fun. It would be great to see it brought back in a new form on PS6.

Jak and Daxter
A Series of Tales
Naughty Dog has created some great IPs over the years, but one of the most memorable is Jak and Daxter. This couple used to be synonymous with PlayStation, and for a while, it seemed that the franchise would never end.
Over the years, we’ve gotten three main games in the series, a Daxter spin-off title, a racing game, and a title called Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier. At one point, Sony brought back the franchise and game collection, but no attempt was made to revive the IP.
PlayStation 6 would be a good time to revive the franchise by adding a fourth main game in the series. At the very least, Sony should acknowledge the game for its 25th anniversary.
Massacre
The original Twisted Metal game appeared on the PlayStation in 1995. Later he ended up finding the sequence of the three main lines. After that, it got a lot of titles thrown in, which made it a surprise to see that it ended in 2012 on the PS3.
This car fighting title is the one that is loved by many people, and the one that many people still talk about to this day. It’s popular enough to get a TV series from Peacock. That show went on to get a second season, and a third is on the way.
With the popularity of this franchise, it would be great to see Sony bring Twisted Metal back to the PlayStation where it belongs. I think it would make a special PS6 title, especially if the television series continues to be praised the way it is.

The sixth generation led many changes to the game.

Big Little Planet
What happened to Sackboy?
Granted, Little Big Planet isn’t dead like some of these franchises. The game was originally released on the PS3 back in 2008. After that, it received two main sequels and a number of spin-off titles such as LittleBigPlanet Karting and Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves.
The latest main release of this series was Sackboy: A Big Adventure on PS4 in 2020. Since then, the franchise has received a mobile game called Ultimate Sackboy, but no original Little Big Planet title has appeared since 2014.
It looks like Sackboy was replaced by Astro Bot, but it would be nice to see the two team up in a new title. After all, Sackboy was a big part of PlayStation during the PS3 and PS4 era.

Not famous
The Unpopular Return
Infamous was a short-lived franchise on PlayStation 3 that started in 2009 and ended in 2014 with Infamous: Second Son on PS4. Despite only being five years old, many are still talking about how good these games were, each of them receiving high review scores.
Sucker Punch branched out from the Unknown series and went on to make games like Ghost of Tsushima, but no other game has been able to fill the void left by the Unknown series.
Bringing Infamous back to PS6 would be a great return for the franchise, and it will put a lot of eyes on the system, especially for those who love superhero titles.
2
Sly Cooper
The return of Thievius Raccoonus
If there are any franchises people associate with PlayStation, it’s Sly Cooper. This stealthy raccoon has been seen in games since 2002 with Sly Cooper and Thievius Raccoonus.
Since then, there have been four Sly Cooper titles, the latest being Thieves in Time in 2013 for the PS3. A collection was also released in 2010 that included the first three games in the series.
We’ve seen Sucker Punch nod to Sly Cooper in Ghost of Tsushima, but nothing major has come out of the franchise in a while. There was also a film in the works, but it was scrapped. Rumor has it that the team is working on bringing the franchise back, and if so, it would be surprising to see it appear on the PS6.
1
Blood
Always Teased
The year is 2014, and FromSoftware has just released a new title called Bloodborne on PS4. It’s dark and scary like the Dark Souls series, but it plays much faster. It quickly became one of the most popular Souls games, so much so that the Souls brand was changed to “Soulsborne.”
Ever since the release of the PS5, fans have been begging Sony to re-release Bloodborne on the console. They have also begged for the game to continue. Instead, they get a replacement of Demon Souls.
Bloodborne 2 is the title that fans keep asking for. Every time there is a State of Play, there are groups of people who say it might be announced eventually. I stopped this title from seeing the light of day on the PS5, but Sony would be foolish not to release it on the PS6.
