How to Unlock Ancient Ruins Biome Mines in Mistria

The scope of the adventure in Fields of Mistria continues to expand with its constant updates to the game, and the Fourth Major Update (0.15.0) has brought plenty of new content for players to enjoy. Whether you prefer casual farm life with a focus on things like Apiaries and Terrariums, or you’re a more adventurous type who likes to explore all the mysteries Mistria has to offer, this update has something for everyone.

Perhaps one of the biggest pieces of that update is the continuation of the Mining questline, allowing you to go much deeper in the end. However, as expected, gaining access is not an easy task. Here’s how to complete the quests to create the Void Mass and break the seal of ruins in the Fields of Mistria.

How to Create an Empty Mass in Mistria Areas

The Fourth Major Update of the game (0.15.0) introduces the final history of Mining as Ancient Ruins (Floors 81-99). However, just like you did with the Fire Emblem in the previous Mines section, you will first need to complete certain objectives to reach the ruins themselves.

In this case, since you are dealing with heavy magic at this depth, there is an extra step involved. After talking to the Priestess and helping her open a portal thanks to your Dragon Breath skill, you will be able to enter it and exit inside the celestial plane which she considers “one step closer to the realm of magic”. However, you don’t have access to the Ruins Seal to see what it takes to break it.

To get that access, you need to first collect four Void objects inside the Mines to create a Void Mass. To help you identify and gather those resources, the Priestess gives you a new ability called Poor eyesight. It’s customizable, so you don’t need to worry about opening it every time.

Below are the idle items you need to collect while traversing the Mines. They combine Void Herbs, Void Pearls, Void Stones, and Void Powder. You need to collect five of each property.

You can get them on any floor set, so you can stick to the previous one for convenience if you like. Make sure you have all your basic collection tools, too Submit any extras you find in the Museum.

Herbs are empty

Void Herbs are like a dark purple plant with three leaves, and you can collect them like any other plant in the overworld or the Mines.

Pearls are empty

Empty pearls are collected by going inside small fish (look for the little shadows!) in any ponds or streams you find in the Mine. These have the highest drop rate, so you’ll probably stack these first.

Empty Stones

Void Stones are like a large, dark purple gem with a light frame around it. Break it apart with your Pickaxe to collect stones from it.

Plain powder

Void Powder can appear as a rare reward for defeating various monsters in all Mines. Although drop rates vary from player to player, this can take a long time to find.

How to Break Seal Ruins in Mistria Areas

Once you’ve collected all the necessary items for the Void, return to Floor 80 and go back inside the portal. Approach the cauldron at the top of the stairs and interact with it to place Void items in it. Select ‘Give’ and a Void Mass will appear above the cauldron, the first task completed.

Next, the Priestess will use the Void Mass to create a decoy for your person, which is needed to safely communicate with the Ruins Seal tablet. Once you’re done, you’ll be able to determine the items needed to break the seal. They include Breath of Flame, Smoke Moth, Firesail Fish, and a piece of Obsidian. In this case, you only need one of each.

Breath of Flame

Breath of Flame is a red herb that you can eat in the Lava Caves of the Mines section (Floor 61-79).

Jump the Moth

The Smoke Moth is also available in the Lava Caves of the Mines section (Floor 61-79), but it may take some time to spawn as it is an Uncommon-tier bug. They are noted for the puffs of smoke they exhale above their heads.

Firesail Fish

Firesail Fish can be caught in the Lava Caves of the Mines section (Floor 61-79). Watch large shadows of fish in the ponds, as they can produce this particular fish. It may take some time for them to appear, so this will be one of the last items you get.

Obsidian

Obsidian can be collected from black crystals from the Lava Caves of the Mines section (Floor 61-79), and/or by defeating Lava Cat monsters. However, if you have opened the Stone Refinery, you can craft it with normal Stone. This can save you a lot of testing time.

Once you have collected all four items, return to Floor 80 and approach your decoy. Give them the requested materials and the Seal of the Ruins will finally be broken. With that, you can now enter the Ancient Ruins section of the Mines. However, be aware that the front steps are shrouded in darkness, and walking will be even more difficult. Good luck!
