When do you get the Base Building Tool in Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2 it’s finally here, and with everyone ready to make a big splash, you might need to take a moment to catch your breath. While the game itself is simple, some things can go under the radar if you’re not sure how to find them.
The Habitat Builder Tool sounds like one of those things. Unlike common items, such as silver, it can be difficult to pin down how to find this tool, especially if you’re just starting out.
You won’t be able to break it out of the gate, so you’ll have hoops to jump through. If you’re playing co-op with friends, that can be made easier as you can collect resources separately.
10 Xbox Co-Op Games Worth Checking Out
The original Xbox was full of worlds to explore with a friend.
To get this tool, you will need to get a scanner tool first. It’s not a complicated tool to craft, but it will serve you well as you make your journey on this unknown planet.
While survival should be your first priority, second should be building the resources to do what you will need. It’s not a bad idea to do a little testing as well.
Building a Scanner Tool
Building a Scan Tool isn’t too challenging, but it will take a while to make heads or tails of where everything is. You’ll need to craft at least one item to fit in, but the other two should be easy to find.
You will need the following items:
- Titanium x2
- Quartz 2x
- Basic Battery
Once you’ve launched the Scan Tool, you can go back to the blue area over there to search for what you need to scan. This is where things can get a little confusing in this survival game.

Finding the Habitat Builder Blueprint
After swimming for a while, you may see some oddly shaped objects that appear to be interacting, but aren’t. These are broken versions of the tool you are looking for.
To get the blueprint, you’ll need to find two of them and scan them. You can find these scattered around, but they will usually be near any man-made structures, so just keep an eye out.
Building a Residential Building Tool
This is where you will really need to collect some building materials. Finding the equipment isn’t difficult, but you’ll want a good number of the three basic materials: Quartz, Copper, and Titanium.
You will need to do the following things:
- Titanium 2x
- Glass
- Basic Battery
- Copper wire
You should be able to do all of these things back in the Fabricator, and then once you do, you can quickly build a Habitat Builder Tool. It is an important step in your journey to learn the world of Subnautica.
