Deltarune Full Strange Route (Chapters 1-5)

Like its predecessor, Undertale, Deltarune includes an alternate story path that you can explore despite being told by NPCs that it’s not a good idea to follow this path. While it’s fun to go through another route and figure out how to play through the story as we move toward the end of the game, you shouldn’t choose a weird route as your first pass.
A strange route it doesn’t start until Chapter 2. This means you can run through Chapter 1 normally, or you can create a save file that starts directly with Chapter 2. Then, you start the route after picking up Noelle, as she is in the middle of the route. I decided to start from Chapter 2, which means I have no egg from the first chapter.
Chapter 2: Beginning a Strange Path
Chapter 2 starts normally until you pick up Noelle and she joins you. This happens after you fight Berdly and Ralsei and Susie split up with you to explore a different route. Generally, you should go forward to the right after joining. Instead, we to the leftwhich is where we come from. Noelle will tell you that this is the wrong way, but we ignore her for now.
If you are on a strange path in this section, you cannot defeat any enemies. If Noelle isn’t the one get the final blow with Ice Shockyou have been removed from a strange path and you will not be able to continue with that save file. I just use Defend as Kris and let Noelle deal the damage with Ice Shock. I recommend making a backup of a save file in a save area after recruiting Noelle that you can go back to if you accidentally leave the route.
You will encounter an enemy when you turn a corner that you freeze with Ice Shock. Then, you need go back to the dump and freeze all the enemies there, which should be a total of four enemies.
Once they are all frozen, you should go back and continue the way you were supposed to go when you met Noelle. However, you need to stop all enemies moving forward. Continue to the room where you can buy Ding Shoes, which leads to you being asked to explain your relationship with Noelle. You must select “We are other” on a strange route.
Start walking to give you the Freeze Ring. You don’t have enough money for it, though keep selecting “Get it” until you have itand equip it to Noelle. Now, go back to the room with the Ferris Wheel poster and take the path down. Here, you get to check that you have done everything right so far. When you get to the pressure plates, Noelle will ask to stand on one so you can cross. It doesn’t give if you’re on the normal route.
Noelle then has a small conversation that gives you an answer option, but both choices keep you on a weird path. Choose your favorite answer again proceed to the dumpster in the lower left corner after many traffic roads that will tell you how many intersections you need to go through before moving forward. At this point, Noelle should be able to stop enemies with a single Ice Shock.
I have four encounters left after testing, so I’ll move on to the next mouse puzzle for now and continue freezing any enemies. Multiple enemies in one battle count as one encounter.
With the mouse puzzle, Noelle asks how she wants to handle it. You should always select “Continue” as a dialog option every time it appears. Not only here, but always. It is part of the route.
A room with lots of lumps after the third mouse puzzle the last set of encounters you have to fulfill the trash wish. If you did not hit the required number, you must go back and find the remaining enemies before proceeding to this point. With four left, I had two maice and two bandits that filled out my remaining encounters, meaning I could go back to the Thorn Ring dump to get it and equip it to Noelle so she could cast her new ability, Snow Grave.
Now, you meet Berdly and you have to keep hitting “Continue.” When the battle starts, raise your TP until you can cast Snow Grave on him and Noelle. Noelle doesn’t want to use it, but keep picking it until she does.
Next, Noelle leaves you. Proceed to the end of Chapter 2 as usual, as you are now stuck in the strange path of this chapter. However, when you get to the end of the run, the Queen is not the final boss. Because you are on a strange path, you fight Spamton NEO in the final battle.
Unfortunately, you have to fight Spamton alone in a strange lane. Use Defend to raise your TP and limit the damage you take from his attacks, then use your TP to X-Slash until he has low health and increases his defense. At this point, continue to use ACT and select your allies’ faces until you get Noelle’s face to appear, as she will end your fight.
Chapter 3
Aside from some dialogue changes, the weirdest route in Chapter 3 is same as normal routeso you have to go through it normally and reach Chapter 4.
Chapter 4
Chapter 4 takes a turn from normal when you’re at Noelle and Susie’s house and Noelle asks to talk to you. Kris puts their hearts in the box before talking to Noelle, which means you have to get out of the box again enter the ventilation system to hear what they are talking about. Noelle’s room is on the upper left.
During their conversation, you have to choose a certain series of answers to stay on the strange path. If you choose the wrong option, the route ends. The odd route options are:
-
“Go ahead.”
-
Pass the heart to Kris.
-
“Me.”
-
“Because it wasn’t a dream.”
-
“I heard.”
-
“It was not a coincidence.”
From here, you can’t complete the strange route for the rest of Chapter 4, which means you’ll continue the chapter forever.
Chapter 5
Although short, the strange route of Chapter 5 is stressful. In the beginning, he talks to Noelle at the lake. The options don’t matter until Noelle takes your hands in the pool, at which point you should select “Continue” repeatedly. As your screen goes white, you should continue spamming “Continue” as quickly as possible. If the next scene is Kris getting up from the bench, then you didn’t finish this fast enough and you have to start over to stay on the weird route. Otherwise, you end up going through Chapter 5 regularly without any special dialogue if you continue from the bench area.
If you did it right, you will get a message that the strange route continues in Chapter 7.
For now, it’s all this weird route. We don’t know what will happen next, so all that’s left is to wait for the next chapter of Deltarune to come out.
