10 Games To Play If You Love Windrose
Fans of Kraken Express’ Windrose should try these 10 games for their similarities in gameplay and world design.
Let’s take a look at each of the boats in Windrose, and their variants, and how they can be used effectively in combat.
Ships and Exceptions
They are 4 main classes of ships which you will encounter in Windrose Early Access. However, that doesn’t mean there are only 4 ships in total.
The last 3 sections of the boat, i Ketch, Brig, and Frigateeach one be 3 exceptions you can choose from. The uniqueness of your ship will depend on how you decide to play the game.
For example, the standard stock variant is more of an all-rounder, with decent Hitpoints, cargo capacity and speed. In comparison, the Brothers are different it moves slowly, it has more cargo capacity, while i A variant of Blackbeard it’s faster, has higher speed, more firepower, and less cargo capacity.
If you like sailing, collecting resources and building amazing bases, while not focusing on combat, then the Brethren variant might be for you. However, once you get caught up in the main story and learn the ins and outs of a sail battle, most of the time, Blackbeard’s variant will usually be better.
To build new ships and their variations, you will need to build a Wharf by the water. You will open this in time”How My Sea Adventure Began” want.
Launching the Boat
This little ship really needs no introduction. You gain access to this boat at the beginning of your journey in Windrose, as part of the initial quests.
You will use this to travel to the surrounding islands while completing several quests related to the next boat we will look at. However, as soon as you upgrade, there is very little reason to go back to this boat, unless your main ship is being destroyed and you need a quick point of departure to escape gunfire!
The Ketch
Chances are, you’ll unlock your Ketch within the first few hours of gameplay, and it’ll be your ticket to leaving those tiny coastal islands behind and finally exploring the big open world!
To unlock this boat, you will need to complete the following requests:
- I need a Big Boat
- Rescue Workers
Completing these quests will allow you to jump into the Boat and double your previous boat speed. Ketch can take you through a good part of the game. However, at some point, you will need to upgrade.
Brig
The Brig is your next big upgrade and will take you further into the main story of Windrose. To unlock Brig, you will need the following:
- 1000 piastres
- Level 2 Coastal Brothers
- Access to the Mountains
Once you have given 100 enough grace value symbols and characters For the brothers, either in Tortuga or their own domain, you will be able to buy ship designs to Brig.
Windrose: How to get to Tortuga
Avast, thank you. Land Ahoy!
You can take this design to The Wharf in your place and build your new ship there. To build a Brig, you will need the following resources:
- 80x Copper Ingot
- 120x Course Fabric
- 40x linen
- 200x Nails
- 200x Wood Planks
- 40x Thread
- 40x Wood
- 30x Ship’s Tools
All these resources can be found within the first 2 acts of the game, in the Coastal Islands and Foothills. Marine Equipment can be purchased from Coastal Brothers.
All variants require the same amount of materials. If you want to change, just disassemble your Birg and use the equipment to make something different for yourself.
A frigate
If you thought Brig was powerful, you ain’t seen nothing yet. The Frigate is an absolute leviathan, carrying the most powerful cannon in the entire game. If you want to rule the water, well, that’s your ticket, my friend.
To unlock the Frigate, you will first need the following:
- 3000 piastres
- Level 4 Coastal Brothers
- Access to the Cursed Swamps
This is an expensive ship, but its power is worth the cost, that’s for sure. First, you will need to collect money by completing a good number of requests, looting dungeons or destroying other ships.
Then you will need to open level 4 and the Brothers, which requires context 1000 reputation points. Most quests give grace letters; you can get a large amount of insignias by blowing up other ships on the high seas. In your search for cash, you will undoubtedly find many generous resources as well.
Finally, you will also need to win Hands, second-in-command of Windrose. This will unlock the Cursed Swamps, which contain the resources you’ll need to build a Frigate.
You can actually reach the Cursed Swamps before finishing the second big boss; however, you will not be able to use the collected resources.
Once you have purchased a ship design from any Brethren Provisioner, return to your Wharf with the following items:
- 120x Foothills Iron Ingot
- 300x Nails
- 240x Linen Cloth
- 320x Wood Plank
- 80x Thread
- 80x Net Cloth
- 80x Net Planks
- 160x Logs
- 50x Shipwright’s tools
Also, this is more expensive than the Brig, and it will take longer to collect the necessary items, but the grind is worth it.
The Blackbeard Variant of The Frigate is currently the only ship that will be able to fire 36-pounder cannonwhich are, naturally, the most powerful guns available. While sacrificing HP to use these, you should be able to quickly defeat your enemies this way. Very exciting!
