Forget the Delayed Game Quote, Miyamoto Shortens Zelda Movie Release

Shigeru Miyamoto may be known for a quote about video games that he never says, but that doesn’t apply to movies, as he revealed that a live-action Legend of Zelda movie will be released earlier than expected.

A famous saying often attributed to Shigeru Miyamoto is, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a fast game is forever bad.” Turns out he never said it, even though the sentiment is right, especially when so many gamers trash developers online whenever the title is pushed back.

The Best Order to Play All Mainline Zelda Games

This series has become so inclusive, it has almost been brought back to simplicity.

Surprisingly, Miyamoto announced that the Nintendo project is not delayed, but moving forward. In a post on Twitter/X, Miyamoto confirmed that the release date of the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie will now be a month earlier than originally stated.

The Legend Of Zelda Movie Launches A Week Earlier Than Expected

While the Legend of Zelda movie was initially delayed, its release date was moved to May 7, 2026. According to Miyamoto, the movie was now launched last week, and will hit theaters on April 30, 2027.

Fans have every reason to be skeptical about the new release date, considering how often films are delayed. However, The Legend of Zelda movie has wrapped production, which means it’s more likely to launch on a new release date.

According to Miyamoto, the film was launched last week, and will be available in theaters on April 30, 2027.

So, why was The Legend of Zelda movie brought up to its release date? Although there are a few films to be launched around it, none of them are big name movies that can threaten its goal. It’s unlikely that anyone who saw Resurrection: Part One was torn between seeing both films.

Hopefully, the fact that The Legend of Zelda movie is starting sooner than expected means that the studio has full confidence in the footage and no major remastering/reshoots need to be completed. The result could lead to a film that challenges Mario’s movie dominance at the box office, at least in terms of video game adaptations.
