Grand Theft Auto 6 On Nintendo Switch 2 Rumors Are Back

Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 in the future, but as a PC port, fans shouldn’t expect to play it anytime soon.

As of the time of writing, Take-Two Interactive has only confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in November 2026. Although a PC port is inevitable, no release window has been given, most expect it to start in 2027, long after the initial hype has died down.

The big question is whether Grand Theft Auto 6 will come to the Nintendo Switch 2, especially considering the system’s weak hardware. At least one leaker is going all out in predicting the port, Nash Weedle saying on Twitter/X that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be coming to Nintendo’s new system in the future.

According to Nash Weedle, multiple sources have confirmed that a Grand Theft Auto 6 port for Nintendo Switch 2 is happening. This new version of the game is managed by professional subcontractors with Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, who ensure that it will work on the hardware.

However, the legendary Nintendo Switch 2 port of Grand Theft Auto 6 will not launch this year. Considering that the PC port will be very important, considering the great accessibility of the platform, it is possible that Nintendo fans will not cause chaos in Vice City for a while, maybe until the end of next year.

The big question is whether Grand Theft Auto 6 will come to the Nintendo Switch 2, especially considering the system’s weak hardware.

At the time of writing, Rockstar has only shown two trailers for Grand Theft Auto 6, neither of which featured gameplay footage. Therefore, it is difficult to gauge how the game will look in motion, as Rockstar could have confused the image quality of Grand Theft Auto 6 and the performance behind the carefully selected screenshots.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is a step up from its predecessor, but it has yet to be truly tested when it comes to games that only run on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware. This is a system that Rockstar never bothered to include Grand Theft Auto 5 in, despite it coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

However, Rockstar is releasing Grand Theft Auto 6 on the Xbox Series S, a system comparable to the Nintendo Switch 2 in power. The inevitable PC port will also need to accommodate a wider range of hardware, meaning Grand Theft Auto 6 can run on the system, even if it means compromising frame rate and draw range.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is off to an amazing start in terms of sales, but it’s not quite the powerhouse of its predecessor, especially with the slow release of killer apps and the impending price hike. That could be another reason why Rockstar/Take-Two are in no rush to release a port, as they may want to see the system’s player base increase, especially if they want as many people to pay that $80 launch price as possible.
