Laufey has been around for “Almost” years, says Faye actress Deborah Ann Woll – WGB

God of War: Laufey has apparently been around since the God of War series was rebooted in 2018, and possibly even before that, a new interview has been revealed.
The information comes from a pretty reliable source: Laufey herself, Deborah Ann Woll, the actress who played Kratos’ wife in Ragnarök. Laufey, or Faye, as she is commonly known, played a major role in both the 2018 game and the sequel, God of War: Ragnarök, although she died in both. Naturally, the death meant that Deborah Ann Woll had limited screen time in the series, which was relegated to flashbacks.
God of War: Laufey fixes that as we take on the role of a Jotunn warrior and the true wielder of Leviathan’s axe. And according to him, the idea of this game has been around for almost ten years.
“Oh my God, I won’t tell you, I’m still depriving myself. You know, I’ve known this for almost ten years, and I can’t talk about it,” Woll exclaimed when Backlot Magazine asked him about the game during an interview.
Surprised, the interviewer asked about it for ten years.
“Probably. He sent it to me in 2018, and they knew about it before then,” he said.
Woll explains that when Cory Balrog brought him in to discuss making Ragnarok and show him the 2018 game, “…he still had a poster of Laufey game with me and the cube.”
Her words suggest that Woll may have been brought to God of War in early 2018, the same year the reboot was released, although her role as Faye won’t be seen publicly until God of War Ragnarök in 2022.
He adds that the cube “has been there from the beginning” and that it is “a deep part of the teaching.”
“This is, now we know we are allowed to say, we will run at the same time until 2018 [God of War]. And so all the mysteries and little hints and clues, questions, lingering, you know, ideas that you have in that Norse saga, we’ll answer a lot of that, or we’ll expand on it. “
If you need more convincing, one of the enduring mysteries of the 2018 game is who blew the horn to summon the Earth Serpent while Kratos carried the sick Atreus to Freya for help. Theories range from Baldur to Kratos traveling through time, because of course. But with Laufey now guaranteed to run close to the events of the 2018 game, Faye himself suddenly feels like a very logical answer.
The book Everywhen doesn’t just explain what happens when the gods die. It could reset the future of the entire God of War franchise.
In retrospect, a few details surrounding Faye, her knowledge of the future, and other unusual endings in the 2018 game were intentionally left open. Based on Woll’s interview, that may not have been because Santa Monica forgot to answer them, but because the studio had plans to come back and fill in those gaps later.
As for God of War: Laufey, the most interesting part of that whole game is how it is set in the afterlife of the gods, which means that Laufey might find himself meeting some faces.
