Where to unlock Cooking in Pokémon Pokopia
To unlock cooking in Pokopia, you first need to get to the Rocky Ridges area through the west gate in the Withered Wasteland, the first area of the game. After completing the important quest ‘Yawn the Storm’ with Slowpoke, you will accomplish ‘Big’ Trainer status required to enter both the east and west gates.
Make your way into the Rocky Ridgesand you will need configure the PC kiosk for that location first (rebuilding the Pokémon Center is not necessary). When you’re done, talk to Professor Tangrowth, and he’ll show you a barrel hanging from a chain next to a workbench. It turns out that a poor boy named Chef Dente He is stuck inside a barrel, and you will need to help him out. At first, Tangrowth will suggest cutting the chain holding the barrel with your Cut move. Jump on the nearby crates and try this, and it will end in failure.
Dente will then point out that you need to learn his recipes to improve your power many times over, especially to be able to free him. He will then sing a song about how to make Salads, ask you that to create a cutting board to help you do so. To do that, Tangrowth says you’ll need to find a Pokémon in a place called Dartrix. To make them spawn, you’ll need to create a Rocky Tall Grass with Sharp Tree Shade a place to live.
Go to the area with the minecart tracks, and along the far wall you should see a pointed tree with a stone nearby. Use Strength to push the boulder around the tree, then use Leafage to reveal patches of tall grass around it until it’s the spot you need. Once you see the usual rustle in the grass, examine it to spawn a Dartrix. Talk to it and ask if it can make cutting boards. It will say yes, but you will need to he made a Perch for them first.
Make a Perch, and place it in Dartrix’s place. They will thank you and give it to you Cutting Board Recipe as a reward. Go to your nearest craft board (requires 2 x Lumber), and this will help you start cooking Salads, and eventually other types of food. Continue following the line of questions with Chef Dente to learn how to cook Bread and Hamburger Steak. The soup is optional, but you can read it too.
