Whenever I play Forza Horizon, there are a few cars that I tend to like. Not because they are the best cars the game has to offer, but because they give me the best chance to win.
As much as I love sports, I am a realist; I am not the best of them. You won’t find me with a fancy home set, and if I’m playing online, chances are I’ll be left in the dust. However, that won’t stop me from having fun.

When it comes to Forza Horizon 6, there were a number of cars that I got into very quickly, as they were not only easy to recognize but also forgiving, compensating for my shortcomings as a driver. If you’re someone like me who always struggles with the “best cars” in these types of games, but you want something you can still win with, I highly recommend these four beginner-friendly cars for Forza Horizon 6.
After going through the campaigns and spending the last few weeks with the game, these are the vehicles I’ve used the most across the board and have been upgrading them as well. If I were starting the game over, these are the four cars I would rush to get.
1994 Toyota Celica GT-4 ST205
The Celica GT-4 ST205 is one of the three vehicles you can choose from when you start your Forza Horizon 6 adventure. It’s like choosing your first Pokémon back in the day, so it’s a very important decision. However, it seems so; you’ll have access to all three cards regardless, but hey, it’s still fun to choose!
While I understand the GMC Jimmy’s strengths, I immediately chose the Celica and never looked back for one simple reason: its all-around power. Yes, a car like the Jimmy is a great off-roader, but the Celica has the highest stats that help it pull away from the pack and never look back. It also handles like a dream no matter where you are.
It’s important to get your bearings as you begin your Forza Horizon journey, and the GT-4 ST205’s ability to be a jack-of-all-trades makes it the best choice when starting Forza Horizon 6. It’s fast, it handles well, and its automatic braking lets you slow down and take those corners with ease.
My number one goal in any Forza Horizon game is to win as many races as possible. I made it a point to see how quickly the game would recommend increasing the difficulty level for other drivers, and the car that gives me the best chance to do that is the Celica GT-4 ST205. Perhaps my favorite thing, however, is that coming back to it after progressing through the game is like riding a bike; it works so well that, at times, it feels like cheat code.
2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII GSR TM Edition
I’m not sure what it was about Forza Horizon 6 and your original wristband events being rally-centric, but it’s something you’ll have to deal with. So wouldn’t you love a car with more juice under the hood that excels in those conditions?
Look no further than the Mitsubishi Lancer, which comes in more ways than one. I choose the Evolution VII GSR TM Edition for one simple reason: it represents a natural step up to green power (a class B car, making it a good choice as you progress to the Horizon campaign) that will handle like a Celica but also be an entry point to the more powerful cars that we will discuss later.

The biggest thing about the Lancer Evolution VII, however, is how well it’s interchangeable. Whether you’re on a dirt road, freeway, freeway, or what have you, this thing handles corners very well. It’s also an impressive drift option. Taking those tight corners in road races will still be the perfect way to go, but on the rally stage, smart drifting will allow you to steal precious time from your laps and pull off impressive passes.
Even as I added more supercars to my garage, I kept coming back to the Lancer Evolution VII. It emphasizes the most important part about how it handles, being incredibly fun to drive. It also works well when racing in drifts, and it used to be my car of choice for those PR stunts.
2016 Jeep Trailcat
One of my biggest struggles in Forza Horizon 6 was dealing with Cross Country events as I climbed the ranks.
I was able to find better cars, which meant it was time to leave the Lancer and Celica. Yes, I could have developed them, but what’s the fun of playing a game with hundreds of cars if you don’t try something new?
This was without a doubt the section that affected me the most, I tried a lot of cars. Finally, I got a 2016 Jeep Trailcat. It wasn’t too hot, and it wasn’t too cold; it was right. Many other cars didn’t handle well off-road, or didn’t have enough top speed, or didn’t brake as well as I would have liked.
Well, not the Trailcat. This thing does and then something else follows. Excellent handling, combined with a top speed that works well once you’re on the road, means other drivers won’t automatically pass you, and some of those tricky turns won’t throw you for a loop. It was a huge night and day difference in my performance. Where I struggled even on stage at times, doing everything I could to fix my car’s faults, the Trailcat always led me to victory.
2024 Lamborghini Revuelto
Sometimes, you’ll end up needing to go as fast as Ricky Bobby, especially if you’re doing street racing. Now, if you’re like me, as you get behind the wheel of luxury cars, you quickly learn that these things don’t handle anything like the cars most people know. They are loose, and one wrong move means you are out of control. Thankfully, Forza has a Rewind feature, but still, I’d like a car that goes faster but still feels in control. The 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto has me covered.
One of the easiest ways to climb past the ranks of Discover Japan and unlock all the treasure found in Forza Horizon 6 is to do street racing. You’ll need the right supercar to do well in them, which means at some point you’ll be driving behind these very powerful cars. At times, this can sound intimidating, but Revuelto removes that intimidation.
There is still time to adjust as you get used to how the car drives, but compared to other supercars out there, the difference is night and day. This thing handles like a dream and has plenty of power to launch, which means you’ll be able to successfully take those tight corners and move through the stretch quickly.
These are all things you’ll need to do if you want to stay with the big guns in the most competitive events, and for starters, the 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto is your best bet to do just that. On the surface, yes, it seems silly to recommend a rare car to beginners, but at some point, you will have to use it. The 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto quickly became my favorite car in the entire game.
