Token2049 Dubai moved to 2027 due to security issues

Summary
- Token2049 Dubai has been postponed to April 21-22, 2027 due to regional tensions affecting security, travel, and logistics.
- This move follows the cancellation of the TON Gateway in Dubai by Open Network.
- Ticket holders can transfer the passes to the Singapore event or use them in 2027, while eligibility for refunds has yet to be determined.
Dubai’s Token2049 program has been postponed to 2027 after organizers cited security concerns related to the rise in international tensions due to the Iran-Isreal-US war. This decision follows the cancellation of another major industry gathering, the TON Gateway event, which was also scheduled to take place in Dubai.
The Token2049 Dubai event has been postponed to 2027
In a statement sent to X, the organizers of Token2049 said that the event will not take place this year and instead will return in April 2027. “In cooperation with our partners and stakeholders, due to the ongoing uncertainty in the region and its impact on security, international travel, and logistics, Token2049 Dubai will be postponed to 21-22 April by April 20 or announcements.
The announcement came a day after TON announced that it would completely cancel its Gateway conference in the city. A project linked to Telegram has indicated that although the planned rally will not go ahead, the team hopes to introduce an alternative by the end of this year.
For participants who have already purchased passes to Token2049 Dubai, organizers say the tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled event in 2027.
Attendees may also choose to transfer their passes to the Singapore edition of the conference scheduled for later this year. Dubai event prices have varied greatly depending on the ticket category. Early bird access starts at $699, while regular passes go for $1,499.
Premium packages that offer VIP benefits like exclusive lounges and priority access are listed at $5,999 on the conference’s ticket page, which is always active on the website. It is unclear whether participants who choose not to attend a future event will be eligible for a refund. The organizers have not made that policy public.
A statement from Token2049 also addressed attendees who have already planned to travel to Dubai for the conference, scheduled for April 29-30. Organizers advised participants to contact airlines and hotels directly to arrange their bookings where possible.
“We know this is disappointing news for many of you who have already done it, and we don’t take that lightly,” organizers wrote on the conference’s website. “Preparations for the event were well underway. However, ensuring that the global crypto industry can gather safely, and with the scale and quality that defines Token2049, remains important to us,” they added.
Before the postponement, the Dubai conference was expected to feature key figures from across the digital asset industry, including Shayne Coplan, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino and Jeremy Allaire.
Meanwhile, attendees of the canceled TON Gateway event have been informed that ticket refunds will be processed within two weeks. Organizers said more details about the event’s changing format could be announced later in the year.
