In Windrose, you are tasked with surviving on various islands, learning little by little about the world and travel as you navigate the high seas. A big part of the game is combat, and if you’re using a gun, you’ll need a gun to shoot it.

How to Make Gunpowder

Fortunately, you also have the ability to make a gun, although this does not come for some time. To make a gun, first you need to unlock the ability to make a grindstone. This is one of the many creative structures you can build around your camp.

A grindstone unlocks when you find corn on one of the many islands around the map. Corn is often found on ancient farms. These are usually found in the lower areas of the hills, usually in the southern parts of the map from our experience.

When you collect corn for the first time, it will automatically turn on the grinder. This will give you access to various new recipes, including the gun.

The gun recipe is 25 ash and 25 sulphur, both of which you should be able to find easily. In case you need to refresh a bit, ash is available in the oven, as a byproduct of creating charcoal.

On the other hand, sulfur is found in the foothills. You will notice that some of the rocks have a yellow moss-like substance on them. This indicates that they will find sulfur if they are dug with a pickaxe. Remember, you’ll need an iron pick to get the sulfur. Combine these two ingredients and you will get a gun.
