PS2 Games That Would Go Viral If Released Now

Before the internet was on every phone and live streamers were the norm, the PlayStation 2 released many revolutionary and experimental games. Many of these games will be franchises that we all know and love today.

10 PS2 Games That Shaped Modern Gaming More Than Gamers Recognized

The sixth generation led many changes to the game.

But can you imagine how big or popular some of them would be if they came from our modern gaming era? A place where the right person who decides to play your game live can make it explode like never before. There are many topics that good people could find.

Here are a few that would be popping up everywhere if they came out now.

Devil May Cry

A Really Bad Teen In Leather

Dante, From Devil May Cry 3

The bad boy anti-hero Dante in his red leather jacket, big sword on his back, and two pistols in hand was the fashion of the old games at the time. And Devil May Cry’s combat was an open-ended revolution in hack-and-slash combat that allowed players to create their own combos. The game will then rate your combination on how stylish it finds your performance.

When the series launches today, we’ll be seeing players submit their best combos to their favorite streaming platforms. Dante and crew are still popular choices for many cosplayers to this day. I just wonder if the fandom will be in an uproar if it comes out now.

A True Piece of Art

Okami HD Screens (5)

Indeed, Okami is a game with an interesting story, clever puzzles, and a unique paintbrush mechanic. But what made it stand out among all the other Zelda-inspired games was its excellent art direction.

Okami’s cel-shaded visuals are heavily inspired by Japanese painting styles. Amaterasu the white wolf is still one of the most beautiful designs ever. And the places were full of beautiful places full of flowers that helped to create a wonderful and magical open world. The game’s beauty will definitely make it pop up all over your feed if it comes out today.

A bully

Beat the Brat

Bully Jimmy Standing in Front of the Student on the Couch

When Bully came out in 2006, it was the talk of the town for many reasons. Some people thought it was admirable to be a bully, although anyone who has played the game would tell you that’s not really the case. Others were upset that you could make a male character kiss other boys. Rockstar Games has been getting heat from left and right.

Can you imagine how heated social media comments can be over a game like this in an age where everyone can’t stop yelling at each other online? It’s hard to say whether it will go viral for the right or wrong reasons, but it will go viral with a lot of circulation.

Mr. Mosquito

You are bad at this game

Mr. Mosquito

There are many shows that end up being popular these days just because they are weird. There is no doubt in my mind that Mister Mosquito is going to be one of those games that everyone was playing just because of how weird it is.

The concept of the game is simple enough; he just flies and bothers the family as he tries to draw blood from those who cannot see. I know it sounds a little scary when I put it that way, but Mister Mosquito is a great and funny game with many viral moments waiting to happen.

Rhythm Game

Release date

February 18, 2002

There are several things that make Guitaro Man a truly unique rhythm game experience. Unlike many other games in the genre, it features more than one type of mini-game in each level, which takes you from following note to note to tapping the center of the circle in time with the groove.

It stands out from the crowd not only because of its superhero setup and cartoonish art direction, but because the soundtrack just rocks. You could see people ripping it on their guitars to all the Guitaro Man songs on their channels when it came out now.

If style is a science, the PS2 had a PhD.

Place of the Enders

The Great Robot and the Genius

I still think Zone of the Enders features some of the best and fastest combat ever in a video game. It certainly sounds like what I’ve been waiting for as a robot action title connoisseur. But solid gameplay isn’t why ZoE will go viral when it comes out today.

No. That would be for one reason and one reason only: Hideo Kojima. The man behind Metal Gear, the father of Death Stranding, was also the creator of Zone of the Enders. Broadcasters would be all over the place because of his name. I like to think they will continue to play because it’s a great game.

Car Massacre

Other vehicular fighting games pale in comparison to the mechanical power of Twisted Metal: Black. The extremely dark atmosphere and storytelling brought the ailing franchise back from the brink of death. Driving around like a psychopath in an ice cream truck, shooting a dude with big armored tires with a missile has never been so much fun.

I like to think that if a game like this came out today, there would be plenty of online modes in addition to the main campaign. Maybe there will be a big war royale mode as well. One can only dream at this point.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Totally Radical to Max

Grand Theft Auto Vice City game

The GTA series is one of, if not the biggest franchises in gaming history. Every entry basically blew up the internet in one way or another when it launched. Vice City was no different when it came out.

For me though, this game was top GTA. I know that GTA 6 will bring us back to Vice City, and I’m very excited to see what the multiplayer is like. But can you imagine what online RP communities would be like if they got a chance to emulate GTA’s retro Vice City? It can be all on Twitch!

Kingdom Hearts

A Whole New World

Sora, his keyblade, and those big yellow shoes of his are still loved by gamers everywhere. Throw in a dose of some of Disney and Square-Enix’s favorite characters, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Sephiroth, and you’ve got the makings of a banger RPG franchise that’s going to go big.

Kingdom Hearts became an instant classic when it first launched and has continued to be loved by gamers who grew up with it. It will be visible on all your favorite channels when it launches today. And you know all the old Disney fans will be all over it.

Katamari Damacy

Take it out!

Katamari Damacy Game

Every part of Katamari is begging to break the internet. What can only be described as a rolling-everything-up-aaa-ball simulator, Katamari Damacy was a welcome moment of glorious insanity upon launch. And who can’t help but love the relationship between the King of the entire Cosmos and his little, little Prince!

The concept and gameplay were already weird enough, but then throw in the King of the Cosmos and whatever the heck he was talking about, and you have something truly special. It’s that perfect storm of simple and addictive gameplay mixed with the perfect look that will have people streaming it left and right.
