Simon Gerovich has been officially confirmed as a speaker at Bitcoin 2026. As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed Metaplanet, he has helped transform a once-struggling hospitality company into one of the largest Bitcoin-owning companies in the world. Now, Gerovich arrives in Las Vegas as one of the most watched figures in Bitcoin discovery outside of the United States.
Metaplanet closed 2025 with 35,102 BTC, making it the fourth largest Bitcoin holder worldwide. The company has revealed aggressive fundraising goals, aiming to reach 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026 and 210,000 BTC – about 1% of the total Bitcoin volume – by the end of 2027. To support that ambition, Metaplanet recently received approximately $255 million in new global capital funding. warrants would increase the total funding to approximately $531 million. The company also expands beyond the collection of treasury: Metaplanet’s board approved the creation of two subsidiaries – Metaplanet Ventures and Metaplanet Asset Management – which target companies that build the financial infrastructure of Bitcoin in Japan, including platforms focused on lending, payments, storage, derivatives, and compliance tools.
Gerovich started the company’s EGM in September 2025 by explaining how Metaplanet went from operating as a struggling hotel company to a Bitcoin treasury company in early 2024. The change has been huge. Revenue jumped 738% year-on-year to 8.91 billion yen, operating profit rose 1,695%, driven primarily by premiums from Bitcoin option transactions, which made up about 95% of total revenue. Gerovich has been pointing to Bitcoin per share – the company’s main KPI – instead of total profit as the most appropriate metric to evaluate Metaplanet’s performance, noting that Bitcoin per share will increase by more than 500% by 2025.
