Slay The Spire 2 gets a Card that will directly heal you

After a successful Early Access launch, Slay the Spire 2 is getting its first major content update.

Meta Crit ensures that feedback and metrics from game reviewers helped shape the full list of changes. They also remind everyone that “this is still an Early Access game, so just because something made it from beta to main doesn’t mean it’s set in stone. [Mega Crit] will continue to rely on the experience of players in both branches (beta and Early Access) to finally put the game in its final, ideal state, like in Slay the Spire 1.”

Judge your success by the sacrifices you made to achieve it.

The full list of changes is available on the Slay the Spire 2 Steam page, but Meta Crit called out the biggest changes:

  • Ascension 6 is a remake from Gloom – “Little Rests.” -> Inflation – “Getting cards out of your place at the Merchant is very expensive.”

  • All shop scraps now cost 25 gold and scraps that make gold will no longer appear in the shop

  • Map creation has been improved and made consistent

  • When you return to running after updating with a card that just dropped from your deck, it is now replaced by a Substitute card – “Draw 1 card. Remove this from your Deck. Exhaust.”

There is also a brand new card coming to the game, and it includes the first of the series.

Not Now This is the first time we’ve seen a card in Slay the Spire offer direct healing. Technically, the card’s Feed (deal 10 damage, if Fatal, raise your Max HP by 3, Exhaust) was also cool, but you had to jump through some hoops for that to happen. Not yet unconditional healing.

Despite the Buzz, Some Players Are Frustrated with the Current Balance of Slay The Spire 2

As is the norm with video games, you can’t please everyone, and people continue to make their thoughts known.

Despite all the tweaks Mega Crit has made to the game’s balance, some are still upset about its current state. “The fix is not enough. Players still have a small chance to complete A10. Please continue to weaken the players and strengthen the enemy,” the negative Steam review said.

Almost all negative reviews share this sentiment, pointing out that Slay the Spire 2’s rating, especially with Elites, is not the same as its predecessor. It’s important to note, however, that the game is in Early Access, which gives it plenty of time to change and address these issues.

Despite these frustrations, it’s safe to say that many people are enjoying their time with Slay the Spire 2. At the time of writing, it’s still clocking up more than 200,000 simultaneous users on Steam.

Given their track record, I have no doubt that Mega Crit will address the scaling issues and, by the time the game reaches 1.0, will deliver one of the most popular experiences around the world.
